Well your gripe was that it was going to cost you to refund the money - the fact that you have a sterling bank account shoots this argument out of the water.

Its not EON's fault that you are - for whatever reason - withdrawing every penny that is paid into that bank account.

Tomwakefield, yes it did but there nothing left to pay it otherwise I would.
Ok, so next question. How come there is no money in there and where did the additional £62 go?

Thats currently in the air, we are in the UK at the moment but sorting out the double taxation rules with Germany (Thats a whole other story lol) AND b4 anyone says it, there will be tax back next year into the UK account for ease but EON are demanding NOW!!

Thanks RadoJo & Dan_I, said it better than me :)

Fluffnutter, I agree, admin charge of say £62 and next time I in England, I arrange to meet you guys to collect your share of admin fee lol

Tomwakefield, yes it did but there nothing left to pay it otherwise I would.

Guess I should call them and speak rather than email (Although this obviously costs me as well) Maybe I should charge £2.50 per phone call :o) Maybe I will eventually be charging them lol

This thread is getting silly now, you are in the UK so obviously have access to sterling so just pay the bill. Sorted:j

The bottom line is that the OP doesn't want to repay the money -if they did then they would sort this out asap - whether that by repaying the money in a lump sum or coming to some arrangement with EON using their sterling account.

The rent is covering our UK expenses - nothing spare!!

But a UK account, right? One that they accidentally refunded to twice already? If that's the case, there's an additional £62 that shouldn't be there. They can just take that, surely?

    Hi cheetaz47

I’m so sorry for the problems us duplicating your refund has caused.

From reading your original post your main concern is the costs you’ll incur in getting the money back to us.

Fluffnutter gave some great advice, if this is our mistake it’s unfair for you to be out of pocket. Just let us know how much the cost of the transfer is and we can deduct this from the balance.

I can see that you’ve already contacted us by email about this and it doesn’t sound like the person responding quite understood.

It’s important that this is resolved quickly because as long as your account has a debit balance, you’ll be subject to our normal debt collection follow up. That’s further unnecessary hassle for you after what is essentially an administrative error.

I’m happy to sort this out for you. I can put a hold on the follow up whilst you arrange to repay the money (minus the transfer fees) or I can call you in Germany and take a card payment for the full amount. I’m afraid we’re not able to compensate for customers’ time.

If you’d like to email your details using the email address on my profile page; I’m sure that we can get things sorted.

    Amanda :)

Just another thought... and perhaps the most convenient solution. If you are able to pay in the next few days and have an online account with us, you can simply log in and make a card payment using the 'Pay your bill' option

  • I have now sorted the matter out with Eon after this morning receiving threats of debt collection but still waiting a response to my last mail. The lady on the phone had some sense and brains about her and my account is now clear (Full write off!!)

Eonrepamanda, I have been told by 2 of your colleagues on separate occasions that you can not call internationally, go figure! Sounds like you have some common sense too. Maybe if we come back to England, Eon may get a look in due to the dealings with the last 2 ladies ;o)

For you all heres a little quote from my old boss that came from his boss a while back and its oh so true:

'The thing about common sense is, its not so common!'

I agree this applies to you. You were in the UK, why could you not sort it out then as a number of other posters have suggested?
    Thinking critically since 1996....
  • I agree this applies to you. You were in the UK, why could you not sort it out then as a number of other posters have suggested?

I was not in the UK when this happened, we moved in July, error occured in August, we found out about it recently, by which time all money was pulled out of UK - only way I could pay was to incur additional charges. This is like telling the victim of a bank robber they must pay the price and goto jail.

Yes if it was for energy used and I had forgotten to pay OR I had seen their error, then I would have paid incl charges, gladly BUT it was not for energy used, it was an error on EONs part to refund me for energy I HAD been charged for but not used.

If I had had the time to keep an exact count on incomings and outgoings at the time I would have seen it and questioned it but I didnt, maybe I should be the one to apologise for not having a working crystal ball!!

Once I was speaking to someone with some common sense , who realised what was being said and what had happened, I was still willing to pay minus transfer fee only. But they admitted the mistake, apologised for the error and cleared the account, this person in my eyes has redeemed EON and I have dug the quote from EONs supplier in Germany back out the bin to reconsider.

Case closed - now has anyone ever tried to claim council tax back based on the fact your paying for 12 months but only in 10 installments - thats another bedtime story, but I think its sorted at the moment lol
