Should I pay for Eon Mistake?
Comments

The rent is covering our UK expenses - nothing spare!!
Its a double refund for UNUSED energy!!
I no problem paying back, the problem is its going to cost me to do it from the continent, I belive I should be in my rights to deduct the expenses as it was THEIR mistake
Sorry I think you've just lost the argument - both moral and practical.
Presumably if EON owed you money then you would be happy to accept the money using whatever account the rent is being paid into.
Yes it was their mistake but you have the means and ability to pay it back without paying the additional fees but are choosing to 'forget' about it.
Just suck it up and pay,2014 Target;

Are you declaring and paying tax on your income?Thinking critically since 1996....0

So how are you going to pay your UK expenses when there is a rental void or an unexpected expense - both of which are almost certain to happen at some point?
I think there's a big difference between incurring expenses on maintaining a property which they are renting out and losing out because an energy supplier has made a mistake and the OP isn't saying that they object to paying any costs associated with spending money in the UK, just with added extra costs caused by an error on Eon's part.0 -

Repay them £52 instead of £62 and tell them you have deducted £10 for your admin costs. It won't be worth their time chasing this and it will make you feel slightly better.0

I thought about this. I suspect in practice the following will happen though...
Npower either won't be able to cope with the amount paid not equalling the sum owed (computer says no) or will refuse to write off the tenner and will log a debt of £10. They'll instruct debt collectors, and put a default notice on the OP's credit file.
I think an electricity/gas company will always pursue a debt, no matter how small. The trick here is to get them to agree that the debt can be reduced [by the price of the transfer fee]."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Did the second refund go into a UK bank account? If so, why can you not send it from that account?Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0

Thats currently in the air, we are in the UK at the moment but sorting out the double taxation rules with Germany (Thats a whole other story lol) AND b4 anyone says it, there will be tax back next year into the UK account for ease but EON are demanding NOW!!
Thanks RadoJo & Dan_I, said it better than me
Fluffnutter, I agree, admin charge of say £62 and next time I in England, I arrange to meet you guys to collect your share of admin fee lol
Tomwakefield, yes it did but there nothing left to pay it otherwise I would.
Guess I should call them and speak rather than email (Although this obviously costs me as well) Maybe I should charge £2.50 per phone call) Maybe I will eventually be charging them lol

OK got too annoyed, sent them a mail anyway but to the Director of whatever, I offered £62 less any fees, less £5 for my time as its a special trip to the bank.
I will let you know.0 -

I think any chance you may have had of them covering the charge will be dimished by you now requesting they pay you a fee for your time!
Maybe your reward can be the fact you have benefitted from having their money interest-free for however long it may be0
