Ebay have put a limit on what I can list because they are 'premium' brands??

Everyone i know just got round it by having more than one account.
I know that it's unlikely that ebay will norice this being done, but if they do then there is a chance that one or both of the accounts will be suspended or shut completely as haveing more than one account to bypass any selling limits is a breech of ebay policy.0 -
Rainbow carnage I feel your pain! Posted earlier about not being able to list my branded cosmetics samples, despite the fact that ebay have praised my performance as a seller and I've had nothing but good feedback from buyers.I can understand them restricting new sellers because of fraud risk, but if you have proved yourself to be a good egg, why the restrictions? I am finding ebay is becoming more and more unpleasant as a private seller but as bluejake says they have a stranglehold on the market and so there's not a lot anyone can do. Think I'll flog my cosmetics and then give selling on ebay a rest for a while, so many rules and regulations and panicking about negs, I don't think I want to be bothered with it!0

Agree this is ridiculous. River Island is not a premium brand!!! Limited to listing just 3 items per month...it is ridiculous.
When I have my clear out I want the unwanted items out of my hands asap, I don't want to hang on to them for another 5 months, isn't this what eBay is for, for us private sellers? Once every 6 months or so, we have a clear out and whack the lot on eBay. Stop making life hard for us with your petty rules. Wish other auction sites accumulated as much traffic. I'd drop eBay in a second.
eBay ....River Island is on the corner of every high street, and not an exclusive boutique in West London ! Sort it out!!0 -
....Also just to add, you frustratingly don't get the prompt that you're over your allowance & cannot post your listing until after you have typed the title, description, uploaded photo's, set postage costs etc... either - which is a complete waste of time & rather bloomin annoying !!0

I think you misunderstand exactly what a monopoly is. Ebay do not actively seek to destory the business of competitors, the competitors are just not very good- that doesn't make ebay a monopoly..
Although a monopoly may seek to destroy competition that is not the definition of a monopoly. According to a strict academic definition, a monopoly is a market containing a single firm. However in the real world a monopoly is a situation in which a single company or group owns all or nearly all of the market for a given type of product or service. By definition, monopoly is characterized by an absence of competition, which often results in high prices and inferior products.
Therefore eBay is a monopoly as it owns nearly all of the market. As an example large banks are not allowed to merge and buy outs are referred to the monopolies commission for fear they would gain a monopoly in the banking sector, when in reality a merger of the biggest 2 would be no more than 75% (at the most) of the sector. It may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0 -
You could try putting in the specifics unbranded but put in the title & description the make. That way you may get around it.
Its actually the title that gives it away. Drop the make from the title and it goes through. But will it sell?shaun_from_Africa wrote: »I know that it's unlikely that ebay will norice this being done, but if they do then there is a chance that one or both of the accounts will be suspended or shut completely as haveing more than one account to bypass any selling limits is a breech of ebay policy.
Ebay have always allowed as many accounts as you want - so hard for them to say its abuse.
But the rules now say your allowed a '2nd account' - 'the words as many as you like' have gone. So i think this would allow them to pull you up, as you say. I also think setting up new accounts now will attract more scrutiny than those already with them.
But no-one i know with many accounts as had a problem yet. You used to be able to just email them and ask for your restrictions to be lifted - and it would be done for accounts of good standing over a period of time. The wording of this request as now changed aswell though - and suggests it will only be done for business sellers now.0 -

I'm not sure where, in this case, their behaviour would benefit a monopolistic attitude, they are restricting their own income, a monopolistic action would be to insist on more listings not less.
For branded items that may not benefit from having the brand name listed, simply don't list the brand name, have the label in the picture if you think it is necessary..0 -

I thought that it was the item specifics, they brought in a while ago that have to be used.
If I'm looking for a particular make I'd search the description as well as title & specifics.
For anyone who's been restricted it's worth a try rather than charity shopping it all.0 -
