Ebay have put a limit on what I can list because they are 'premium' brands??

Hiya,
I haven't sold anything on Ebay for ages so decided to flog some stuff this weekend for free.
So far I've listed something from Office, Sacha, River Island and just listed a Rock & Republic jacket.
I've just been alerted by Ebay that I can only list one more brand name for the next 30 days?
Does anyone know why?
I actually want to list a few proper designer bits today.
And I wouldn't exactly call River Island and Office a premium brand name!!

The bar on private sellers listing designer items has bene in place for quite a while. There doesn't appear to be any way round it unfortunately.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Bllimey, is this another way of pushing out private sellers, who are shopaholics, like me Soolin?
Things is I can understand the R&Rb being classed as designer but Sacha, River Island and Office?
I got all excited thinking I can flog a lot of nice bits to make sone Xmas money but looks like Ebay have out the kaboosh on that.
Do you know why they've introduced this rule?Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

I don't know for sure, but i suspect it was a way of giving a little 'something' back to the business sellers who feel they are being unfairly treated as private sellers get all the free listings etc.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Again I'm not entirely sure, But i'm sure someone on a different thread a while ago mentioned 3 or 4 a month.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ebays behaviour is disgusting. The worst kind of monoplistic behavior. They have so much market power and zero competition in the UK and they can do what they want to. They don't have to provide a good service to customers because there is no where else to go. Long overdue that government takes some action against them to improve competition and provide a better deal for customers. Unfortunately this market doesn't seem big enough to make it on the radar. Very frustrating that their is no competition. Only a monopolist online auction would restrict customers to selling 2, 3 or 4 of their items a month. They know there is no competition so there is no where else for you to go. Read the topics on this board and you quickly realise that a lot of the problems people experience are due to Ebay having a monopoly and behaving like a monopoly. Some government action to introduce competition and stop ebay's behaviour is the only solution. In the meantime you just have to put up with it. They can basically do whatever the like and there is nothing you do but at least recognise they are the enemy and they are using their power against the interests of consumers.

You could try putting in the specifics unbranded but put in the title & description the make. That way you may get around it.0

I think you misunderstand exactly what a monopoly is. Ebay do not actively seek to destory the business of competitors, the competitors are just not very good- that doesn't make ebay a monopoly.
The restrictions mainly apply only to private sellers, and private sellers with huge amounts of designer items or cosmetics to off load are rare. If I were a business seller who sold designer items or cosmetics I would welcome this restriction- it is hard enough already selling in a recession without having to compete against 'private' sellers who use free listing days and don't have to have a robust returns policy in place.
It is also worth noting that this benefits buyers in that they may have to use business sellers for their goods in future, which gives added protection as they have a right to return, and can also check out addresses etc before they buy if they are buying an item that is known to be easily faked.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Is there a list of what's considered a 'premium' brand? All of my stuff is brand named. Non-branded stuff goes to the charity shop. It's not worth the hassle of listing.0
