Perhaps you would have better luck getting to sleep if you weren't logged onto the computer at 3am just to insult a random poster.

Try lying in bed with your eyes shut.....

You've never suffered from insomnia, have you?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

I haven't but I lay awake at night worrying that I will start to.

I see there is a lot of comment on the OP's use if the word "distress" in his letter to the store, but isn't it normal in cases where you are attempting to get some form of compensation to over exaggerate the instance as this aids your case for compensation. If this was to be taken up by an ambulance chasing lawyer I am sure much stronger and emotive words than "distress" would have been used.

Well if they said in their letter to the shop "I was slightly put off that after spending £30 and not being able to take advantage of the offer....." do you think the shop would consider any sort of recompense?

We live in a society where people want something for nothing or want compensation for the slightest thing. In such a society if you want compensation you have to exaggerate your loss to maximise your chances for compensation, right or wrong doesn't come into it as you have already made the decision that you want compensation.

Right or wrong always comes into it as far as I'm concerned.
  • thanks to those of you that gave relevent info but for the idiot saying im upset that i dont have a game so that i can play 24hrs a day i would like to say this. if i had 24 hrs a day to play a game id be overjoyed but in the real world i work from 7am every morning until i finish all my jobs as a service engineer which can be any time at all in the evening. the second point is that i was trying to get the game for my nephew for a christmas present and was trying to save a bit of money hence being on the website named moneysavingexpert.com! seeing as money is very tight for everyone it hasnt caused me major distress but it has !!!!ed me off enough to complain to sainsbury which i am not very good at. that is why i came on to a forum that i have found very helpful in the past. thanks again to everyone that was helpful but to all that wernt. get a grip i was just asking for help!

You didn't have to spend the £30 on shopping if you were only doing that to get the special offer on the game. So an irrelevant point really.

As another comment says the offer will have been "until stocks last".

You may get lucky and they may honour the deal for you, but it will only be at their discretion, they don't have to.

Chill OP, im sure sure advertising would say about it being available whilst stocks last but on the other hand i would have expected a note on the shelf to say it was out of stock.
