No idea about the sugar thing, but tomato will definitely stain them - OTOH, does that matter?

Nope I don't mind them getting stained. :) Hopefully that's the reason for the warning then and I wont die from using them for tomato based things haha :D Death by tomato based food in plastic pots, ahhhhhh!

Does anyone have tips for cleaning magnolia walls? The walls in my rented flat are covered in marks. Any tips to remove some of the marks without removing the paint?

Depends on the type of paint, but I did my walls the other day using a cloth with stardrops spray. Came up a treat. If you rub too, too hard, a wee bit of the paint rubs off, but if it is magnolia, it'll still look better than the dirty marks.

Hi pink - you could try the 'magic sponge'. It's a dense sponge that you can buy in As*a, £ shops etc. You cut a bit off and wet it before rubbing very gently. It seems to get rid of lots of stains etc. I use it on my cups for the stains that won't budge with anything else! :)

Thanks forall your advice, I'll ry and track down one of these magic sponges :)

The marks I think are just from things brushing up against the wall. Its not like it stained from spillages or anything, its just little black marks and lines. The walls aren't covered with them, but they do show up quite clearly against the light colour. I am slightly concerned about getting my deposit back at the end of the tenancy though.

I'll try getting rid of them though. Thanks all :T

    Hi all:j

I just recently acquired - cheaply - a very expensive designer leather jacket - as it was 'well used'. It's in fairly GC but is cream in colour, and has a few marks - mainly from makeup around the collar area. Rather than send it to a specialist cleaner, is there any way to remove these marks safely please? Any help welcome - tkyou!!

Not sure it'll work, but worth a try if you can get hold of a few baby wipes without having to buy a packet? They take make-up of men's work shirt collars & permenant ink off white boards & pen of leather suites so they're pretty useful!
