Daily Thread Sunday 13th November

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 13th November This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all. Off I go again.

Remembrance parade today. PIL picking me up and not really looking forward to it.

Still black and blue from Monday. No low cut tops for a few weeks.

    Thoughts with uolypool.

  • Morning Cat and all who follow

2 more hours and I can go home, at least I'm getting paid for being up at this hour.

Uolypool thoughts are with you and yours

    Lou hugs hun.

Spent 5 hours yesterday sorting out DS's xbox live connection . Finally got out of DS what's been going on with him recently and it turns out he's being bullied by two of his so called mates at school, lots of excluding and talking behind his back because he didn't have XBox live and saying they weren't going to talk to him until he had it. I just knew something has been up for the past few weeks. Needless to say I'm fuming and will be at the school first thing on Monday.

Off to the gym when I get home as I'm too cross to sleep. Then work again to night. Tea is whatever I fancy from the fridge.

Have a good day all and big hugs to all in need.

Uolypool, you are in my thoughts.
Yesterday BIL & his son came over to finish off the gazebo, we were all in a constant panic about BIL in case he took a fall or something, he is still very unsteady but I think it did him good to be here, he felt useful & could potter around at his own pace, terrible to think he will never work properly again & he's only in his 40's. He has a rescue dog & say's that the dog is the only reason he gets up in the morning, the dog had been found abandoned, tied to a lamp post & is devoted to BIL, he stands at the toilet door whimpering because this is the only time BIL is out of his sight. Anyway, the gazebo is finished even if Hubby did have to climb in through the bedroom window & then got stuck when the pen in his pocket got jammed in the window bracket!
Not long after BIL & his son left, there was a knock at the door & it was a friend of Hubby's come for an unexpected visit, I stretched our HM chinese out to feed him too & he had a few beers & decided to stay the night & not drive home, fortunately the spare bed was made up & the spare room was tidy.
Plans for today include watching the GP, knitting more of a fluffy cushion, making a couple of dolls dresses & cooking roast lamb, oh & admiring our new gazebo.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all!!

last night was a disaster, my friend's other friend stood him up so friend decided to go to the pub to join him. So OH and I went home early. Didn't cook any dinner, just snuggled on the sofa with a movie and then bed. No hangover for me wahooo!

Going to boil a gammon joint today and make a pie with some of it and OH can have the rest for lunch. Also need to do some more washes, and meal plan for the week.

    Morning all,

DNephew is due here at 8.30 to help DH continue working on the roof, lovely blue skies here so we must make hay etc. I'm going to the Rememberence Service this morning. I always well up at these gatherings.
I'm doing Chilli jackets for DH & DN's lunch. I have some Hm apple pie in the freezer I'll get out for them.
Dinner is Roast beef with all the trimmings for DH, I still have half of my dinner leftover from last night so I'll have that. I just can't have full roasts, I look at the meal and feel full even before starting.
I've had loads of Crimble orders delivered so I'm going to wrap them this after before they are stored away in the loft.
Been thinking of UOLYPOOL since I woke at 4am. Hoping good news is soon.

    Morning all
In London, seeing DS & GF later, DH had a coffee but not snoring again, no rush this morning.
Had a lovely look round the Somme battle fields, Thiepval, etc., pictures will follow when on a landline connection.
Poppy cross, laid on behalf of you all
Usually at church this Sunday as it is the nearest one to our WA, but not home yet, so will watch the parade on TV.

Uolypool thinking of you, your DN, and you Sister. :grouphug:

Lou - keep going luv, but you do need something in your tummy to take the painkillers on, catch 22 I'm afraid. Nothing in tummy, tummy not working, hence not absorbing tablets well, tablets stay there, you feel sick, and pain not easing, can't be sick, nothing in tummy, you think painkillers not working well. Trying to be sick on empty tummy not nice. ((hugs))

Take care all - ((hugs)) as needed. DG

    Morning all,

Thoughts and prayers with you Uolypool, hope that the news is good.

DS and DD2 ended up out on separate sleepovers last night and DD1 was out on her first babysitting job so OH and I got a taste of life when the children have left! It is all back to normal this morning as I have to get up early to fetch DS and DD2.

Off to church with the girls and DS has an away rugby match so we are a busy household this morning.

OH cooked Jamie Olivers 12 hour rabbit bolognese overnight last night so we will have that for tea this evening.

Hugs to all that need them, especially Cat and Lou.

    Have a lovely day everyone:)

    Morning All

Rememberance Sunday always reminds me of my late Nana as I remember being very young and asking her what it was about and her explaining it to me. Its also brought to mind a very close soldier friend who died 5 years ago this christmas eve - not in conflict but still serving. Still miss him.

Thoughts are Uolypool and family, hoping for good news x

My Dishwasher keeps tripping the electric - only had it 4 blooming months so need that sorting coz I hate washing up! Today will be mostly cooking I think, ater I have submitted a couple of reports for some mystery shopping visits. DH is working 11-6 but he didn't get to bed til half six this morning from working last night so I'll leave it til the very last minute before I wake him.

Turkey and Gammon for dinner this evening, also going to make Lasagne for tomorrows dinner. Might even get around to some baking - haven't made hobnobs for ages and I have a new icing set to test out which calls for cupcakes!

    Have a good day x
