sloshed some vinrgar in the powder tray of my machine, put it on the hottest wash, now my machine is broke!

whichever programme i put it on, it just stays on that program without advancing through the cycle. i checked for blockages and one of the pipes from the drum was clogged thick with gunk. cleaned this hoping it would be the answer, but no.

just thought id share my experience incase anyone has any thoughts...

That’s what frightens me; we don’t have the funds for a new one.

But I’m going to give it ago, so, those who’ve done it, does it matter what I use, either soda crystals or white vinegar, do I just put some in the drawer and put it on the hottest wash? (Machine will be empty)

Once I’ve used up what FC we have, I’m not going to buy anymore, I’ll use white vinegar, may I just confirm would it be OK for me to put the vinegar in at the start of the wash?

You could try leaving the door open to air.

Try a whole bag of soda crystal on a boil wash
If it still smell then shift the washing mashine and check the waste pipe ,the smell could be coming into the machine from there

My washer repair man told me that liquid washing powders gunge your washer up  so it could be the gunge that's starting to smell.

I would second the soda idea on a very hot wash, he told me to chuck a cupful of soda in a couple of times a week with the towels etc to keep it clean.

  • Am hoping you can help me!

Have just moved into our new house, and our washing machine has been in storage for around 6 months. Am wanting to give it a good clean and do a few empty washes to make sure its clean before it goes back into use. Am I right in thinking I can use white vinegar in the soap drawer to clean it through?

    Thanks in advance!
