A strong biological washing power (like Ariel) is good for really freshening up the smell inside. Or you could buy a cheapie own brand (Asda's is 50p I think). Do this on a long boil wash.

Have been looking at this thread for a while now. Can someone tell me if the vinegar/soda crystals method also cleans gunge from the door seals/rubbers?
Thanks.0 -

Hi Bellie,
There's an earlier thread that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep all the replies together.
There are also more suggestions on this thread:

Hi all,
I have noticed my washing machine is starting to smell a bit musty and I have seen on here recommended to run a 90 wash cycle with an empty machine but with some vinegar in the drawer.
I have just got sarson's vinegar and some stardrops, which is best to use, and how much?
Also, how do I know which drawer is the fabric conditioner one and which one is the washing powder? I have never used fabric conditioner in my life and usually use the tablets which you put in the drum, so I can't remember which is which. One is larger than the other.
Thanks!I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
Hi foreversomeday,
The larger drawer is usually for washing powder and the smaller one for fabric conditioner.
There's an earlier thread that should help so I've added your post to it to keep the replies together.

Gosh, found 5 litres white vinegar for £1.59 in Loon Fung which is a large Chinese food warehouse in Tottenham,London N17(you don't have to be trade to shop there) - no good if you are miles away but worth looking for a Chinese store nearby. Large Asian grocers charge £4.50 for 5 litres locally!SallyD0
