Vodafone absolutely useless - cancelling after only 3 months

Having been with Vodafone only 3 months I'm preparing to cancel my contract once I sell my phone next week to help pay for it.
I also have my complaint pending with the executive office.

3 months to sort out a direct debit, twice payment was taken on dates i had not authorised and was also misled it had been set up properly.

Unable to provide me with my bills as "My Account" never works.

Very bad reception around the whole of Leeds city centre and nearby areas, so much so that other users have reported it to OTELO who have taken on the case. This has been ongoing for over a year with Vodafone who have done nothing to improve the situation. (If only I had seen the forum post before I joined them!)

Being unable to get through to Customer Services on the phone because I am in a long queue all the time and have better things to do, and then I also get disconnected trying. Got through once and his english was crap and tried to sell me something when I called to complain about a fault!

Being misinformed by their email team regarding products and services which were proved to be lies when another team told me different. Their web relations team who choose to ignore certain people and issues.

Has anybody else had a nightmare experience with Vodafone? Surely I can't be the only one!
Judging by their Facebook page it plagued with complaints, they have tried to set up a seperate "support" area on it to move all the complaints away from the main wall....

Many people had "a nightmare experience" with their CS and you could have done a basic research if you wanted a good one.

You had 14 days to cancel your contract and return the phone if bad reception is really an issue.

And I don't think that you have a right to 'authorise' the date of the DD, although they may offer you this opportunity.

    Hi ShaunInLeeds,

It's disappointing to hear that you have had these issues.

You have mentioned that you are already dealing with our executive office but if there is anything I can help with at all, you can email me directly via the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject.

    Kind regards,

How can you 'authorise' a date a DD is taken on? This is a fallacy! You've agreed to a payment method that allows the originator (the network) to take unspecified amounts, on unspecified dates. As long as they abide by this, they are in the clear regardless. They can suggest a date payments will be taken, but this is an aspiration rather than a statement of fact, so beware of DD's. Good luck with your complaint, but watch those DD's.
  • After complaining to the powers above they admit the DD fiasco was bad customer service. They also admit 3G in Leeds is poor, although they claim that 2G should still be fine I still have issues even on that.

I have been offered 6 months line rental off the total cancellation fee or a free sure signal booster box, I'll be taking the 6 months less to pay when I leave this week!

Hi. I do not wish to hijack this thread but, I am looking to cancel my Vodafone contract. As I have had my numbers of hours cut down at work I am looking to cancel my phone as I no longer have the funds to keep it going. I cannot find anyone willing to take ownership of my account either. I understand I'd have to pay off the contract, but can I do it in smaller more manageable installments? Or are there any alternatives? Thanks.

This may not help but you could take out a 0% interest credit card and pay off the contract onto that and then each month slowly start paying it off as and when you can until it is cleared.

If you are having financial problems, or have a drop in income, and have a bill to pay then please contact Customer Service (their number can be found at the top of your bill), and ask to speak to the Credit Control team.

They will be able to work out a mutually beneficial payment plan to ensure your mobile service is not stopped due to non-payment. Please be aware though that repeated non-payments may result in the phone being barred until payment is made.

And NO mention of your arrangement being reflected in your credit file regardless of what action is taken.
