Littlewoods Advert?
Comments

Thanks for your reply, I just think Littlewoods have gone that bit further and crossed the line.
Please continue to spread the word everyone so that people that are usualy taken in by this will not be, I feel sorry for the people that will take this advert in and then be on here posting next year!0 -
Yes well if everyone complaints to the ASA maybe they will consider our point? Thanks, :-)0
-
I just wanted to add that a friend of mine has already complained to the ASA about this advert.
Apparently it was not written by an agency. Little wood produced it I house to save money. Could be the most expensive mistake they ever made as there are now boycott campaigns ongoing.0 -
HATE THE AD. HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT.
Makes me cringe every single time I see it. It's so sad that happiness is measured by the value of the gifts received... which from the ad must be at least £2,000 or more for the family.
"My mother's wicked because she buys everybody really expensive gifts which she'll be paying for until next christmas, at least!"
I didn't even think of the "Santa doesn't exist" angle.
Did I mention I hate the ad?You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
I hate the advert too. My niece who is 5 started asking why 'mummy' buys all the presents and not santa. She then asked does that mean mummy is santa! My sister had to explain that it is just an advert and santa gives the presents etc.
It will shatter a lot of illusions - shame on you littlewoods for taking the magic out of Christmas!!0 -
It's wrong on so many levels. It makes my blood boil when it comes on.0

We saw this ad the other night and my jaw dropped. Wrong, wrong, wrong.0

exactly - I agree with everything said on this thread!
I don't have children myself so didn't think about the Santa angle of it as well.
Wrong on so many levels :mad:0 -
I thought this a while ago as this advert was always on the radio on Magic. I couldn't believe it- all the presents they mention are electronic, high value things.
The problem is though that a lot of people do ask for (and get) these type of presents for Christmas. I know a friend who is buying her boyfriend a sim free iPhone 4s for Xmas- that's crazy! Laptops, Kindles, sat nav etc. I just think it is so ridiculous.
Am I the only person who asks for CD's, jewellery, books and makeup bits and the most expensive thing every year is a bag from Accessorize??!
Also- the tune to the song- SO ANNOYING!Debt free as of 2 October 2009
Mortgage free as of 27 March 20240 -
I hate it too. I just saw it by chance before a vid started on YouTube (or Swaggers, or similar) and straight away thought about all the families who would be guilt-tripped into getting into more debt because of ads like this.
Making kids expect mega-expensive presents is bad enough, but worse is that it is so clearly aimed at people who are either skint or already in debt, because if you could afford that stuff in the first place, you wouldn't need to buy it on credit.
Oh and Josephine82, you're not the only one- my Christmas presents from my brother this year are a load of £1-£2 bits of make-up from SuperdrugOptima semper libera sunt
