Have a look at Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas from Southampton, some great deals for January next year.

They currently have a deal on with either free car parking or free coach travel to the ship.

Its slightly over her budget, but it is for 11 or 12 nights depending on which one, I see it for £699 for 11 nights on Jan 22nd and £709 for 12 nights Jan 10th.

    Indy is a superb ship.

Forgot to say, they sail to the Canary Islands, so should be nice and warm when they get there. :T

Is that budget all in or is there spending money on top?
    Don't forget tips/gratuities

Do they have a budget for on board spends, how much do they drink?

I would give Fred Olsen a look smaller ships very friendly.
in price order( this is the starting point before looking for a deal through a TA)

Not a lot of choice from the UK over the winter a lot of ships are away on long trips so out of budget.

Shame they did not hink about going sooner there were a couple of gread deals for Nov from P&O and Fred.

AS long as they are flexable something should come up

A good tip is too avoid Thomson Cruises and choose any of the major cruise lines. At their age Holland America is a great choice.

    Indy is a superb ship.

You said their were in their 70's - the Indy is much too big a ship with 3500 passengers. RCCL is not reknown as a choice for the over 70's, they are geared up for the younger crowd.

Your best bet is the Princedam sailing out of Dover ( Holland America) in April/May for about £650 for 7day cruise to Norway.
HAL is always the best choice for the elderly.

Try www.vivavoyage.co.uk to narrow down your choice of cruise

Thanks for the info their budget is only for the cruise you do get food included don't you :o? (not sure about this bit now:o) they will have about £400 each spending money mam only has the odd drink unless you include tea and then she drinks buckets of the stuff :rotfl:. do you think this budget is unrealistic? I want her to have a good time and not worry about her spending money:o
  • I would recommend P&O Oceana or Oriana but you wouldnt get either of these sailing from southampton until later in the year.

I have been to norway and france/spain on oceana and loved it - am going on Independence next year, but think that will be far too big/not right atmosphere for them.

Im about to go out but if you need any more info pm me and ill get back to you tomorrow.
  • All of the Cruises are full board, the only extras are Gratuities, drinks and excursions - a Budget of £400 for a week will be ample.
