Landlord won't repair the oven

I would cut back the waffle.
BUT if there is a risk of electrical problems overall then you need this to be addresssed too. ASAP.
Perhaps time for the council's private sector person to come and have a look0 -
The letter is too long and you seem to feel the need to justify why the oven should be fixed by saying you were nice tenants before. That you were nice and accommodating before is neither here nor there, the oven is her responsibility imho.
Also don't forget to be clear on what you want. Your letter doesn't actually ask for anything apart from a chat. I think to comply with the shelter process you need to be clear that you are about to start dealing with the repair yourself.
Good luck!0 -
Relationship with landlord is gone. The Landlady's response stated they weren't going to do any repairs until end of tenancy, to me this implies you will be getting notice two months before the end of your fixed term.
I agree. I'd also include a distruption element to the letter and start looking for somewhere else. I'd also assume you'll ahve a battle with LL for the deposit back and withhold the last two/three payments.0 -
Also in the letter you mentioned something about having fixed items yourself to avoid bothering her - never ever admit to doing this, in fact you shouldn't fix items without permission and ideally not at all. The letter is also too waffly and a bit passive aggressive. Just write something like what Norman Castle says.
I'd be looking to get out and try and find a landlord who knows what they are doing.0
