Coopers of Stortford, taken money, no goods and being ignored

Sorry I should have come back and posted, they did eventually send me my goods - took them over two months though and beware if you order more than one thing they take the money for each thing separately ( well they did for me) I order 12 items and each one came off credit card individually plus they took for one thing twice, I emailed them about it and money was put back within a week, but no acknowledgement they had made a mistake.........I admit I have not touched them since I last contacted them about double payment.
Whether they are any better now I don't know but they certainly are still going. One person I did manage to speak to at the time said it was just they had, had so many orders at once that they just couldn't cope and so everything got muddled.
So hopefully now they are ok. I may one day try again, but so far not found anything they sell that tempts me enough - I will say everything was good quality.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I am also having problems with Coopers, they took my order in early October, cashed the cheque. When I called them on the 0844 number - in the middle of November, after waiting for a considerable time, they said it was out of stock, due now in January, but they said they had not cashed the cheque, when I said they had, I was told I would receive a refund, to-date I have still not received the refund. I found a telephone number which is not the 0844 for their shop in Bishops Stortford - 01279 656551, although the very nice lady who answered was very helpful, I understand that the shop and internet business are two separate companies. I have also emailed them and received an automated reply stating they were very busy. I have also contacted Trading Standards to make my case to them.0

I put in an order last week. If no show in few weeks will write them a polite letter, if after 2 more letters will send a breach of contract letter. If no reply then, will take up with local trading standards. Thanks everyone for posting with warnings on them. They sound similar to brightlife uk whom had dealings with in past and since boycotted.0

This is an old, old thread.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -

So?
People Google stuff when they're having problems and get led to these threads.
It all adds to the info. - in this case, about Coopers of Stortford.*Look for advice, not 'advise'*

on a site called REVIEWS.CO.UK look for COMPANY REVIEWS / STORE / COOPERS-OF-STORTFORD
it looks like some things haven't changed: damning reviews and average of 1 star out of five. Some of these are very recent posts!
I was hoping that maybe the new ownership would change things (ref newspaper article in Herts and Essex Observer dd 06 Sept 13: "Jobs reassurance as French firm snaps up Coopers of Stortford in £25m deal"...) but note they are committed to NOT changing anything and capitalizing on the brand and its "55+" market
So let's hope someone from the company reads these posts and actually tries to FIX whatever is wrong in dispatch and customer service - before the Frogs renegade on their undertaking to spare you all your jobs!!!0 -
In February we bought a vacuum cleaner (nicknamed ‘The Beast’) from Coopers. It seemed to work OK but it put a lot of dust into the atmosphere in the room in which it was being used, as if the filter system wasn’t very good.
The machine also had a damaged component so we sent an email asking for that to be replaced. Coopers replied to the effect that they were very busy, but would deal with as soon as possible. That was on 10 February, but we never heard from them again until about three weeks ago when they sent me an email to tell me that my wife had sent me an email about some product of theirs!!
I replied to the effect that it would be better if they dealt with my request, rather than involve themselves in my wife’s email messages, but their system refused to accept my email because, according to them, it came from a source that is on a spam list.
Today I have received another email from them, again advising me that my wife has sent me a message, and once again they have ‘bounced’ my reply.
Quite frankly this looks like a poor company to me, and we will not be dealing with them again.0 -
Ordered a water cooler/filter which arrived and was defective. Coopers then employed Hermes to collect it and arranged a replacement. Having been through the Hermes experience before I ended up sending it back at my own expense. The replacement arrived and was also faulty. Asked for a refund. Again, Hermes were given the task of collecting and failed to do so. I'm still waiting for Coopers/Hermes to arrange collection and have yet to receive a refund. A deeply depressing experience.0

I have now purchased five products from Coopers of Stortford. All products were over the UK£15-00 requirement for free postage. Three of the purchases were with a discount free postage voucher???? And still I have been charged the postage for each article at UK£4-99p.
On all purchases i queried the postage, (via eMail) got a reply being looked into but never received an acknowledgement or explanation?
I think - no! I know; this will be my last purchases from Coopers of Stortford.0
