what you also know is that those that smoke and take breaks also have to make that time up if it is not the standard break that everyone is entitled to depending on how many hours they work....

I wonder if those who spend their time totting up how much time smokers go out for breaks spend the same amount of time as they do on this thankless task

So so true.......once the moaning minny has whinged this one to death....suggest they move on to moaning about Women statistically weeing more than men, thereby spending upto 30 secs in the toilet a day more than men.....or some people use more toilet roll than them, thereby costing the company more...yet getting paid the same money..outrageous....

If you really hate your job so much that someone getting away with doing it for 10 minutes less per day bothers you this much, why not think about a change of career?

Bloody pompous non smoker ! I smoke like a trooper, but don't have a full lunch break, work late and hard and work lots of overtime without pay.

I don't think it's got much to do with smokers, or non-smokers...

Put simply, there are always a few people in the workplace who chunter away at how much better someone else has got it than they have. From imagined inequalities in pay, to perceived favouritism from management, or (god forbid) the fact that someone pops outside for a couple of minutes twice a day, there's always one little gnome sat in the corner watching all these other blessed people tutting away at how 'unfair' life is.

I wish smokers would stop pretending that your breaks are only 5 minutes long. Try timing it and you will see that it is at least ten minutes. Didn't bother me that much when i worked in an office as i knew i could join them for the break if I wanted. thing is - I would never want to go stand around with smoke being blown all over me. Couldn't think of anything worse!

The smokers will probably die sooner, so the extra free time they have now you will have later on when they're six foot under.

Everything will balance out in time.
