Anything you want to do over o2 has to use the proxy.
If you can find a telnet program that can use a proxy then you can do it.Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. I've managed to get remote desktop to accept connection on port 8080, and I use the terminal services viewer to connect to port 8080... but it doesnt work. Am I missing something here, as I thought I could do pretty much anything on that port?0

A little off topic I know but there seem to be knowledgeable people on her ewho might bw able to twell me why I can't get real vnc to connect from my p800 mobile (client) to my pc (via the free O2 gprs on port 8080)?I think....0

michaels: yes, RealVNC probably hasn't got a setting for the O2 proxy. You have to go through a proxyOrder of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. You guys are so far ahead of me here I can just see your outline on the top of the hill!!
I have a PPC which I can connect through the IR port of a mobile phone and dial my ISP but it is expensive at 15p/min.
Are you saying that I can connect for nothing and check e-mail etc while I am out and about?
Keep it relatively simple, I am quite technical but self taught so alot of gaps and in both knowedge and hair!0 -
Andyrew:
You can with the Orange simcards, but with O2 you have to go through a `proxy`. If you click
tools -> options -> connection settings you will hopefully see a box in Internet Explorer with proxy settings.
Unfortunately I don't know how to do this with Outlook Express because I don't have Microsoft Windows. I'm not sure it's possible to use Outlook Express, if so then you'll have to use webmail with O2.Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. Thanks for info but I am using a PDA with the Pocket PC version of internet explorer. This I am then connecting via the IR port on the PDA to a mobile with IR port and dialling the ISP (mobile provider is Onetel which is actually Vodaphone) which is an 0845 number. This cost 15p/min. I then use the webmail to check e-mail via PPC Internet Explorer, although I know I can set the e-mail up to connect and download new mail through the new service settings. That doesn't help either because it is still dialling the 0845 number, I need it to dial the WAP/GPRS number instead.
If I use O2 or Orange they charge the same for 0845 numbers. How do I access the WAP/GPRS at a low cost or am I better getting a standard number and therefore drop to a lower charge with 02/Orange/Virgin etc.
I have checked in the connection settings on the PDA and all I get is phone numbers, Connection Preferences, Terminal, TCP/IP (using a specific IP address) and Name Servers.
Does this help at all?0 -
GPRS settings are on this page:
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
Vodaphone charges for GPRS but it might be cheaper than per-minute.
On my phone I dial *99# to select GPRS.Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. Now possible for £20/month for 100mb via 3G and VoIP and a laptop.
But you still got to heft that laptop around and pay £20 a month for 3G internet and you only get 100mbOrder of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books.
