Can I just point out that whoever thought it was a good idea to put kids on wheels and then take them into THE SUPERMARKET has a lot to answer for. My local Tescos is alive with the little darlings whizzing around with no regard for the safety of others - hope this craze dies an early death!0
-
My Tesco now has a sign outside specifically saying no Heelying but I must say I have NEVER allowed my DD to Heely in any store as it is too dangerous!0
-
Costco was selling these for £50Mummy to 5 beautiful girls and yes it is very hard work lol x
THANK YOU0 -
My local Sainsburys say that they are looking into banning Heelys on health and safety grounds - they are going to put up signs to that effect. I stopped going to Tesco (who dont have the signs up) specifically because I found it so uncomfirtable to try and shop in the middle of a skating rink. Sainsburys is smaller, but seems to attract a better class of person (lol) who doesnt permit their brat to speed in the aisles.0

Hi
My daughter bought a cheaper brand for just £25 on the market in Ipswich. Work just the same without the price tag.. she loves them
However, when we first bought the home, she practised for days first to walk in them, before learning to use the wheels.
Yes, she does wear them everytime we go out now and yes that includes tesco, adsa & b&q etc, but she knows when to wheel or when to walk. I actually find it a gods send to actually get her around the shops without all the moaning, and all the other parents say the same when the kids met . It's all about being sensible, and our daughter knows the rules we have set for her and her whellies. As the wheels are remove able we can remove the wheels from them.
I can see how accidents happen on them, but like everything in life, the senisble factor is a must.
Yes, these are fun for the kids and there are going to be big for the summer.. and theres are not like normal skates anyway, im sure when i was younger i'd where my chunking great sized roller skates everywhere too, and they were not as safe to wear as todays ones.
Let the kids have some fun while they are young to enjoy it, it's hard enough to get them out these days as they have so much danger / horror stories around them, thats why they are all indoors on pc's, and playstation etc..
Also now when we walk take our dog she wants to come too, so she can wheelie , so the exercise for her is good too.

I'm afraid I'm one of those who permits my brat to speed in the aisles - as you so eloquently put it Imadeity - come on I'm sure you were young once. Let the kids have fun - its better than sitting inside on computer games all day surely0 -
at my brownie pack there are a couple of girls who wear heelys, they drive us mad, they either can't join in the games because of them or they have an unfair advantage in other games. they bump into the other girls, spend ages showing off what they can do when they should be doing something else.... oh the joys! Think we are going to ban them from meetings, we are such killjoys but its only a matter of time before someone gets hurt and they have plenty of other time in their lives to enjoy them (like in the supermarket!!! heehee!!)0

Sorry, don't agree with this at all - there are plenty of places where it is acceptable for the kids to whizz around without being a nuisance, it is not acceptable in a supermarket & is very dangerous for other shoppers, especially the elderly. I do not allow my daughter to skate whilst in any shop, she walks until we are back outside. Let the kids have fun, yes, but not at the cost of other peoples safety and in the proper places. Its all about respect.0 -
I bought them from
http://www.ukskate.biz/index.html?pageTitle=Heelys_tm&pageDesc=_NOTE_We_have_just_received_a_large_delivery_of_Heelys_11th_January_2007_These_include_Spree_whitepi&action=search&submit=go&maincatID=&searchtype=catID&quicksearch=89
They were £10 off. They sent them next day delivery. We were very impressed. My younger one wants them now but they aren't any discount.0 -

I'm with pixelchick10 101%, as i said this in my earlier posting.
As for the brownies, our daughter wears hers there tooHowever, the wheels are removable and it takes seconds to do this, and then they can be worn as trainers in the normal way. So dont ban them, why not kindly ask for the wheels to be removed during brownie time ~ it's simple really
I really think this is the case of the oldies having a moan.
They should remember that it's not safe on the streets these days to let our younger ones out to play like they could. And it's possible like with our 9yr old , this is the only time she will play on them when we go out shopping , as she's to frightened to play in the street.
Would like to know from igottawii, where they suggest a 9yr old ( or any child from the age of 5 upwards )go and play on these, whilst being safe.
And may i suggest to igottawii, that they actually try out a pair of these and have some fun, instead of sitting in front of the tv playing games for which the user name suggests they do. As he obsivously knows the safe places to go and play on these.
Happy wheeling to all those fans who read this, and long may the craze continue :T
regards
