What Do You Want To Learn in 2012?

Pacing myself is my main goal, too
I'm just rubbish at making realistic goals for myself. I want to start a veg garden next year, so I decided which bits of the overgrown garden (I live with my ILs) to clear. I took 3 days to clear 1/4 of it and totally wore myself out... and my carefully drawn planting plans are looking a little over-ambitious, too! Probably better to start small.
I also want to learn how to knit and crochet. My grandma taught me when I was a girl, but I forgot over the years. I wanted to ask her to teach me again this year and then she died.I'm so angry with myself for putting it off until this year. I'd wanted to show her whatever I'd make.

Im hoping to:
* get mini allotment sorted down bottom garden (we live on hill so the garden is tiered)
* get greenhouse up and running
* spend what i need to not on junk, this year i cut back a lot and intend to do more hm things
* get back into knitting and cross stitch
*not allow people to take advantage of my nature
small goals but achievable:A :j0 -
Great thread
I want to be able to;
1. Follow a Knitting Pattern properly so I don't end up just making scarves Oct to Dec
2. Learn how to crochet - I can't get past the "chain" part July to Sept
3. Make far better use of our allotment April - June
4. Declutter and keep our home clutter free Jan to Mar
From January I'm going to pick 1 of the above and spend 3 months doing it in my spare time and that way I don't think I'm trying to concentrate on too many projuects and then abandon them all!!

Learn to crochet,
Cut back on silly spending and use the money to make my home more homely (save for a welsh dresser for kitchen etc),
Sort out garden and start growing fruit and veg to try and encourage Dd 1 to eat more vegetables,
Learn how to make jam,
Spend more time with friends,
Organise house a bit more and declutter, so I can try and keep up with housework,
Take more time for myself (to excersize, relax etc) without feeling guilty,
Sort out proper "family time", Dh works long unpredictable hours and I want the time when he is here to count,
Say "YES" more - for to long I have said no to things I really wanted to do because I am too self conscious,
Admit more quickly when I need help or someone to talk to. I have such great friends and I need to take advantage of them more often. They would be so upset if the knew that I needed help and didn't want to bother them. On the same note, make more of an effort to help friends (like one that is due after Christmas, I am going to offer to take her Dd to nursery etc).
Gosh, I'm going to be busy.0 -
I want to learn how to meal plan properly and also how to make things properly with my new sewing machine, i can make basic stuff but would like to be able to make gifts for people if i can improve my sewing skills.StayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0

Since going back to work after mat leave and starting teacher training my food bill has sky rocketed so my first goal is to reduce this by at least a third. I will do this by shopping less, meal planning, cooking from scratch and baking more.
I have also signed up to a save £12k in 2012 thread so I want to achieve this through spending less, returning to my old style ways and earning money for gifts etc from surveys.
I also want to spend more quality time with my DS and DH having cheap days outSave £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
*I really want to get to grips with my sewing machine, my Mum gave me her old one which is fantastic, but I can barely sew a straight line!
*I'd LOVE to get DH to declutter, he is soooo bad at throwing things out!
Not on the OS list:
*I'd LOVE to get to my goal weight
*Fingers crossed we will get our visas to move to Canada!0 -
I'd like to learn:
How to use the tons of junk and old fabrics that I have lying around the house to make things that look good and save me having to buy. For example, I have a large stash of old fabric items that I would really like to cut into strips and crochet (an idea picked up from here) into useful rag rugs and throws.
How to DIY a bit more effectively than I do now.
That I CAN live within my means.
That I do not have to spend money on developing a healthier lifestyle.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

I'd like to:
- learn how to knit and crochet properly
- use my sewing machine a LOT more than I do
- use my new slow cooker at least twice a week
- grow more fruit and veg - we may have a second-hand greenhouse coming! :j
- sell, give or throw away everything we don't need
- investigate college or uni courses to keep my brain active
- not spend so much, with the aim of reducing our mortgage
- like someone else said, ask others when I need help, instead of bottling it up and getting stressed!

Next year I'd like to deal with post as it comes in, and keep on top of paperwork, instead of having it on every surface (including floors) all over the house and never being able to find anything.
All my "wants" are like that really, just to be able to keep the place decent enough so that I don't have to panic and hide if the meter reader calls would be wonderful! If I could just manage an hour of housework a day on top of the cooking I'm sure I could, rather than the hour a [STRIKE]week[/STRIKE] month that it has been. To that end, to keep taking my pills EVERY DAY and hope against hope that these ones work!
Keep up the moneysaving so I have enough for Christmas without having to get a loan.:money:
On the offchance that I feel sorted enough to get another hobby, crochet is the one that interests me most, I haven't the faintest idea about it but one day I'd like to learn.:)
I'd like to teach my children that there is absolutely NO point in putting empty packets back in the freezer/fridge/cupboards, and gently point out that putting them in that big blue thing in the corner of the kitchen is just as easy:D0
