Your second bidder didn't win the auction :) generally speaking, you can't pick and choose your buyers ;)

  • I think the poster was only suggesting this because an overseas bidder had bid on my auction which clearly stated United Kingdom only.

As I mentioned, I had wondered myself whether this would be an option but I have a lot of lacking knowledge yet regarding the ins and outs of ebay

Fay, her listing specified UK buyers only, that is why I suggested a second chance offer.

Surely she is fully within her rights to reject the winning bid as it did not meet her buyer requirements.

I am not an ebay expert so if I have got it wrong I am happy to be corrected.:)

I will edit my earlier post.

No, you're right Avoriaz, but seeing as the US buyer has a good record and will most likely accept the postage price, I'd personally permit them to buy. I did say 'generally speaking' :)

    Some further thoughts:

    - If they were able to bid, I imagine the auction wasn't set up to prevent overseas bidders, so it's not entirely the bidder's fault for bidding on something not designed to be sold overseas.
    - Why risk a neg from the US buyer, when they'll probably be a perfectly good customer?

  • Oh dear, I think I've jinxed myself with my comment earlier lol

The buyer was obviously online to bid and, being 5 hours behind, I would have thought he'd be online again at some point yesterday.

But I haven't had any reply to my email about the postage :(

Am I worrying unnecessarily? Do these things usually take a few days?

Sorry to appear impatient but, as a buyer, if I bid on an item I pay straight away if I win; I've never sold before so I don't know how it works with other people lol.

    Patience!

Did you contact him through Ebay buttons and not using your own email prog? If you keep it all within Ebay then leave him a week to respond as he might work away from home all week without an internet connection. A 1400 feedback member is unlikely to default.

Yes I did contact him through the ebay buttons. I think I knew I was being impatient lol but couldn't help worrying.

I suppose it's one of those things you get used to in time but as a first timer, it is all quite intimidating. Thanks for the reassurance anyway.
