Peanuts, what you really need to check is whether that buyer has had a lot of neutrals and negatives in their last few weeks and months on eBay before they went NARU (not a registered user). Occasionally a buyer or seller will build up impressive feedback over months or years, then simply vanish leaving behind a trail of disgruntled eBayers. Closer examination of a eBayer's feedback can be telling. In some cases they might have been aggressively buying or selling 1p ebooks to get feedback...

More often an eBay account will have been hijacked after the legitimate owner responded to a 'phishing' attempt or their computer was infected with a keystroke monitoring executable or trojan. It's hard to know what happened and eBay is usually reluctant to investigate or help unless you file a complaint with the local Police's CID - "obtaining goods by deception" is a good start point. If you suspect that PayPal has refunded a number of other sellers (like yourself) even though that buyer is NARU (usually a sign of fraud), you can also make a complaint against PayPal for "aiding and abetting" - as leverage to get PayPal to reimburse you if you are unsuccessful at recovering your property.
