Paypal dispute opened against me

Hi

Just received an email from paypal to say that a dispute has been opened against me for non delivery of an item.

Is it in my interests to just refund now or do I wait for paypal to take the money on the due date?

The buyer is no longer registered and their feedback is private. Is this suspicious?

I assume I should refund and then claim against the post office?

Bit miffed the buyer didnt contact me to say it hadnt arrived before doing this but I know that is her prerogative.

Thanksx

If they are unregistered I'm not sure how it works.

However, make sure you post a response (if possible) stating that you have proof of posting and to ask the buyer if they have been to their local PO to check the item isn't there waiting. (sometimes red cards get lost or not left)
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

Surely buyer would contact seller before making a claim with paypal!. Sounds very suspect to me and I wouldn't refund in a hurry if I were you.
Just Let the claim run its course and paypal will decide whether claim is valid.

I am trying to locate proof of posting but cant get her address up as she is no longer registered. I might ask her via the dispute to provide her address to help me with this process

Can you not find her address from your PayPal history?

you should be able to see it through the item page, view invoice

Couldnt access her address via ebay at all but it is down on the paypal website so have managed to locate her details at least and have found my proof of posting as well so at least I may be able to get some money back from royal mail.

I did want to check her feedback as rightly or wrongly I do wonder sometimes whether a buyer might be lying about not receiving an item .......... just my suspicious nature. Of course in this case I cant do this.

Private feedback isn't a good sign, as a rule.

Private feedback/unregistered seller etc isn't good, but if you can't prove delivery you will lose the chargeback.

I guess paypal will just reimburse her anyway out of my account as they have no interest in whether her private feedback is rubbish!

I must admit I am a bit suspicious of this one as most folk tend to do the decent thing and email you first to say they havent received the item. I cant leave feedback either as she isnt registered anymore.

You need to provide a tracking number if you want to win the dispute, yes it is dodgy but you just need to find a tracking number to win it
