When our DD was 4 we'd got her a load of presents but on the last day at school she brought back a letter she had written to Santa saying she wanted a "tedy". So we rushed out last minute and found one in a charity shop for 50p, it was her favourite present:rotfl:
Aw, that is so sweet!!!This was always the case with us as children too, the cheaper toys were invariably the favourites. :A

I spend about £50 each on mine and the same goes to step sons. WE have 4 kids + his 2 so couldn't afford much more. They all get 1 x dvd, 1 x book, 1 x cd (Small toys for little ones), some chocolates and then about £30 of the budget goes on larger toys. They get so much as we are from a large family anyway, and I don't think they have ever felt like they miss out.
I also get them all a new outfit each for christmas day and if I can find PJs for Christmas Eve at a good price those too, so it can add up to around £70-£80 each. This year, as OH has work we have booked a surprise trip to Centre Parcs in JAnuary, which works out £300 for 4 nights. This will be part of their present too. I suspect they will think this year is great.

We've spent around £80 on our 2 this year,as I've got some great bargains in the sales and have spread the cost across the year as much as possible.
Best bargain was picking up 2 light sabers plus a double light saber from Mr T - retail price around £90, reduced price £30 and I had £25 in vouchers
DD's birthday falls 2 weeks before Christmas and our wedding anniversary in the week before, so it's an expensive time of year!0 -
Thanks LizzieGrace, I was starting to feel like a right skinflint!! I am making them sock monkeys for their Xmas Eve hamper, JD bug £25 from Asda, 2nd hand karaoke machine £20 and few other bits they really want. Stocking fillers are always £1 or less and they get each other something (£8 this year but my sons is an awesome water pistol/gun which should have been £30!!!)
They have a playroom full of toys already.“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. If you don't listen eagerly to the little stuff when they are little, they won't tell you the big stuff when they are big, because to them all of it has always been big stuff.”0 -
We have spent just over £600 on each of my 3. Two girls want ipads and DS is getting a new laptop for when he hopefully starts his a levels. By the time we have bought him trainers £40, hoody £50, it soon adds up. It has been an expensive year this year, hopefully not need to spend as much next year.0

I normally spend around £1000 on my 4 boys who are 4,5,7 and 10. That is all together, not each! I am cutting back this year though because pennies are even tighter than usual.Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0

Glad I started this thread. Its been interesting! I suppose the £320 I have spent on each child seems an average amount compared to what everyone has spent. Maybe a little above average, but this does include things such as knickers, socks, body sprays and chocolates etc. I'm hanging on to them until christmas so that they have more to unwrap. I do shop around for bargains.
My son's (13) main present is an xbox 360 and Kinect and my daughter's (almost 10) is a 26" flat screen TV/DVD. Other things tend to be DVDs, Xbox games, Converse boots, Wii game, books, pyjamas, itunes card, rucksack, slippers, superdry t-shirt, cinema voucher, Ipod covers etc.
I think I get quite alot for what I spend. But to be fair they dont get spoilt through the year, they have to wait for their birthday or christmas or save up themselves.
Im also please to say that I should have everything by the end of next week. It's the most organised i've ever been :cool:0
