Changing postage cost

apologies if there is a thread about this already (I'll gladly closed/delete this one if a link can be provided to a current thread)
anyways, on with the issue (and a bit of a rant too).
Just wondering how common it is for sellers to change postage AFTER a sale.
Of the last 5 items I've purchased on ebay, at least 3 have tried changing the postage amount, blaming ebay's postage restrictions as unrealistic. 2 of the seller's eventually caved and agreed to send the items at the advertised amount, but one ended up giving me a NPS as they refused to issue the correct invoice!!
I've just won a 6th item y;day and the seller has changed the postage from £1 to £10!! Its a Blu-ray DVD so maximum postage is £1.25. It is a steelbook so the 96p it cost's to send it 2nd class might not cover it, but steel books arent that much heavier than standard amerays so £10 is blatantly taking the p**s
is there anything we can do about these naughty sellers as I've noticed feedback cannot be left when a NPS is issued (which in the case mentioned above seems VERY unfair).
I've reported 2 sellers for breaking the rules but its getting beyond a joke the amount that are trying it on. Also makes me wonder how many buyers fail to notice and pay anways

It is not common and sellers can only do if if buyers allow them to.
If seller changes postage after you have bought refuse to pay, or pay the original amount. Report them to ebay and neg them. However there are some sellers who will now defend this by saying ebay capped limits are un realistic which supposes sellers are too dim to work out that the additional postage should be added to the postage cost.
You mention not being able to leave feedback- I always have been able to even where I have reported them as a NPSI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. on this one item I lost the right to leave feedback which annoyed me as I was gutted enough to loose the item.
may I ask how your implying that buyers let them? I mean its not like I'm leaving payment for days on end (I always pay the next day if I'm not online when I win) and on at least one occasion I know of, the 'amended' invoice was sent within minutes of the auction ending. Barely any time to pay.0 -

Buyers will often fall for the sob story and pay up the revised amount and while some buyers continue to do that sellers will continue to try their luck.
If no buyer at all was prepared to pay extra (like you and I) then the sellers wouldn't bother trying to get round the postage caps.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No problems- I'm just pleased that someone else is like me and refuses to play along with poor sellers like that.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm pretty sure this is against eBays rules, but haven't got time to look. Just go through eBay and pay the correct amount0

damn right. If I have to follow the seller rules then I dont see why others shouldnt (as annoying as the postage cap's can be sometimes. Too many times I have to list as a BIN to make up for the postage cap and ensure I dont lose money)
I remember when the postage cap's were brought in, a few sellers tried it on then, but soon died out. Just found it weird the amount I've had in the last month.I'm pretty sure this is against eBays rules, but haven't got time to look. Just go through eBay and pay the correct amount
It is against the rules, and I've tried to pay the advertised amount but sadly once they send an amended invoice's, even if I try clicking the link on the auto sent one, it still links to the amended amount. So unless they cave and adhere to ebay rules by sending me the correct invoice, I'm stuck.
Ebay shouldnt allow for invoice amendments, only additions. I've sometimes added a next day delivery if I know I'll be able to get the PO easier.. Not that anyone's taken me up on it, but I like to add extra's if/when I know I can do them.0 -
I'd ring eBay and ask if you can have the strike from earlier removed, and I think the dispute you are talking about are NPB not NPS, as NPS stands for non-performing seller whereas NPB stands for non-paying bidder, eBay's telephone number is 0844 496 0301apologies if there is a thread about this already (I'll gladly closed/delete this one if a link can be provided to a current thread)

Though I'm pretty sure the feedback option disappeared. Will check again.0 -
