Now M&S 42" only £230 with 30% off all m&s tv's.
Shame this thread has been hijacked by sony fanboys.
I was ordering the sony from JL when it was still available but stopped because it looks v. dated and I really wanted a larger screen.
I've ordered one of these and would really welcome any more feedback - if it's only a problem with tinny speakers I can work round that.
Hopefully the picture will be brighter than a dull plasma.0 -

I have just ordered one of these for a superb 230 delivered. I'm a tech expert 20 years in IT, personally I can't see how a 1080p panel can be particularily poor when connected to an appropriate source. I've seen awful sony/samsung/lg units in my work in regaurd to the built in sound and freeview. I expect little from this.
The technical facts are that plugged into a 1080p source this will be 1080p its digital so there is none of this variability in definition that is implied by the nay sayers. The hurdle with older cheapo tv's was usually the back lighting which the led lighting again makes somewhat irrelevant. Buy this if you want a spare tv for an mce, games console, blu ray etc if you have a surround kit.
Do NOT buy this as a primary living room tele for standard def freeview and no external sound you will be disappointed0 -
"Plasmas" arnt "Dull" you can set them as bright as you like, just like any TV.
What would you get for a Second hand "Cello" when the next best thing comes along? You can always sell a SH Sony, especially if its got say the balance of a 5 yr Gtee., and "Freeview HD"0 -
The Cello has 5 yr g'tee.
Not planning on selling -it's only for bedroom.
Look at the rubbish that sells on ebay !!
Anybody got one yet?0 -
Just had one of these delivered today...its a xmas present for my son and his family. a little bit worried about some of the negatives here about this TV.
We were considering our options and contacted M & S about their returns policy only to be told that large domestic items cannot be taken to stores for a refund ! ! and we would have to pay £100 for it to be collected ( £49.99 according to the web site)
There are 4 good reviews from customers on the M & S web site.
As we only paid £230.30p and it comes with a 5 year guarantee we are leaning towards keeping it....roll on xmas :beer:0 -
Chris,
I returned my Cello TV to M&S no problem, they collected it at no cost, money returned to my credit card. When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0 -
