russ, Thank you so much for your very detailed explanation and help. Do you think I can return this TV to M&S ? on what ground, apart from the awful sound! If I am able to return it, I shall certainly go for the Sony.
    Thank you again

Click here for your Consumer Rights. I think you have every right to return it for full refund under the Distance Selling Regulations.

I told a friend about this tv and she ordered it. It was delivered yesterday. They are really disappointed with the picture and sound quality. They have been in touch with M&S and they are returning it.

Hi, mine arrived today, no installation just a dump and run affair.

There is a large sticker on the box which reads non returnable if opened unless faulty. However my concern is the specs have changed from what originally was listed on the page.

The tv i have had delivered has no mention of PVR and the site now reads "with usb PVR" (or something similar )
It now apparently has only one scart socket where as orginally it had said 2 on the order page. The picture on the box is also nothing like the picture on the web site.
Not sure if i should just return it as not as described or...open the box and see.:o
If you bought via internet/phone/mail order, then disegard the sticker as you are covered under the DSR, even without the changes in the specs. (I thought their stickers did say "This does not affect your statutory rights.")

£450 at JL but then you get £100 back from Sony.

£350 after Cashback with 5 Year Warranty is fantastic, but they appear to have no stock.

There's an 'Email me when in stock' option, but will they receive new stock before the Cashback offer expires, & will they honour this price? If yes then it's worth waiting for.

Yes, I saw that John Lewis have now sold out, what a shame, I have asked them to email me if they get them back in stock. Fingers crossed!
