Take a look at this one in Purley then (London/Surrey borders)

It needs modernising too!
Ah but Purley is a very expensive and exclusive part of London, it's Greater London actually although it is actually Surrey too, so all rather confusing! Beautiful area I have to say and such a fabulous location. Quite a few famous people live in that neck of the woods, Francis Rossi of Status Quo, Michael Buble....many more too. A lot of footballers too. You see some fab cars speeding along, Ferarris, Bentleys, RR's and classic cars. So you're going to expect high property prices there.
The house I'd like to buy is the opposite end of London in Southgate. Great area on the edge of Hertfordshire (where Victoria Bechham's family live in Goff's Oak) and it's got the uderground too, so getting into central London is easy peasy. Lovely place.
This house in Southgate would be my dream house

There's some beautiful parts of London and you can understand why they hold their prices.0 -

In The Wirral in Wallasey (near Liverpool) you can buy a 4 bedroomed semi detached house for as little as £229,00. The price differences between the north and south have stunned me.
I can't post a link up but there's a wonderful spacious house in the best location of the Wirral on Rightmove and you can see how much you get for your money. It's on page 2. There's only 5 pages of properties, the actual asking price is £229,500. Take a look and see how lovely it is.
I've found it for you

Good size house and location but you can't compare the Wirall with London or Surrey chuck!:o
That's why property is cheap up there. Unfortunately, unlike the south east and London properties are actually dropping at an alarming rate in the Wirall, this year they've really fallen quite a lot. So yes, I have to admit that according to different regions and areas house prices differ enormously and some areas hold their price while others just tumble.0 -
Whoooo! Just found a 3 bed semi in The Wirral for £129,500!!! Bargain!

Corrections/Crashes call them whatever you wish, have been using recent history around 18 years apart. However, with the noughties credit giveaway which which ultimately required governmental and BOE involvement to avoid financial disaster, the saying "its different this time" holds very true.
We're well overdue for a correction, global financial outlook is poor, the UK looks even worse.
Will prices be higher in 10 years, probably yes.
Will they be higher than today next year, or the year after that, or the year after that?
I think not.0 -
Thought I'd heard it all until I came here and saw the number of delusional, self-righteous greedy seller types in this thread. Thank god I'm buying a new build and not trying to negotiate with someone in cloud cuckoo land....
The 11 people that "thanked" the post at the top of this page.. wow. Keep taking your valium."The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0 -
