will it be too hot then? also when is the hurricane season? i hope june is before it!0 -
June will be hot in NYC but manageable - and you will beat the British school holidays for Orlando, even the Scottish ones who don't break up until the end of June. Busy, but not peak.****************************0

I quite agree, LA was quite a letdown after seeing all those films. There is some great scenery in California tho'suzzi2704 wrote:Orlando definitely.... loads to see and do. I found LA to be a bit of a dump personally and though it has theme parks they are not as good as the ones in Florida!! The rest of California is amaaaazing though
The east is much nicer than the west, in general, for atmosphere and friendliness. Can't put my finger on it but have been to both east and west USA several times and still feel the same.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T

Can be humid in Orlando then and sharp rain/thunder showers but very warm. The weather in LA tends to be constant all year round and less humid.twonga wrote:hi

I have been to both.
LA is an awful place.
It absolutely stinks, you can actually taste the smog and I felt physically sick.
I couldnt wait to get out of there.
Orlando is so much better.0 -
Orlando is on another planet.
Go there - You wont regret it!The Name's Bond James Bond0 -
A couple of years ago I took my eldest(then 9) on a mini tour of the US. We went with United Vacations who (used to - don't know if it still applies) allowed us 2 free stopovers so we took full advantage and did all 3 cities
We went in April and went to NY first for 3 nights, then Anaheim for 4 nights and then Orlando for 7 nights and it was FANTASTIC!!!
Jet-lag didn't bother either of us really - we booked early flights all the way through so we just slept on the plane and then a night flight on the way home so we were all set up when we got back.(Not as bad as the previous years trip to Oz - LOL)
Last year I went back to LA with my BF as I definitely prefer it there. Orlando is becoming very much a Brit resort now - even to the extent that they now have a really good public transport system and proper pavements. When I first went 10 years ago they had almost no pavements or transport infrastructure in place. International Drive is good if you want to walk around but is starting to become a little 'scuzzy' now. However the parks do make up for it - definitely prefer Universal in Orlando but DLC in LA.
The original Disney in California is most definitely the best and easiest to get around, especially if you get up early.
In Santa Monica there is a wonderful motel my report onTripadvisor here
If you can get your head around the road system then Santa Monica is a good base for LA.Noli nothis permittere te terere

Orlando for a week!!! You'll never fit it in. Saying that we did a week at Xmas. Simple sort out before what you want to do and then plan....plan...plan! We never touched Disney. Just did Universal, Sea World and Busch Gardens and even had time to go shopping and Wet N Wild for relaxing day. If you stay aroung I Drive you wont even need a car. Have a look at the Orlando topic in this section
As far as going to beaches of St Petes to chill out, we prefered Clearwater but you dont even need to do that. Just get a ticket for the MANY water parks around orlando and save the drive and time. Typhoon Lagoon at Disney even has its own beaches and you can easy find a quite spot.0 -
IF you're a big kid like me go to orlando and enjoy the theme parks!:santa2:0

first thanks for the advice
The plan is to:
- 4 days in new york (is that enough?)
- 3 days in Orlando (is that enough/)
- 4 days in Tampa/St Petersburg/ Clearwater
Questions:
- Can i go shopping at all in orlando?
- st peters/clearwater - are these beaches packed like beaches in LA etc? Also is there trips so that i can try out diving?
- nightlife, i mean proper pubs/clubs? is there anything like that or is it mainly beach based?
- Also is there enough to do at st petes/clearwater/tampa to last me 4 days?
- Will i need a car rto get from Orlando to Tampa? Or will public transport be ok (i dont want to drive)
- is there much to do in Tampa?
Thanks in advanced!0
