HELP!! LA or Orlando??

Need some help here people.

As soon as the football season finishes i am booking a holiday for 2 weeks in America.

We plan to go to New York for the first week (this is defo) ....but then we are stuck.

We are undecided on whether to go to Orlando Florida or go to Los Angeles for the second week!

Has anyone been to either Los Angeles or Orlando Florida? Or Both? and recommendations on this would be great! We cant do the both, it has to be New York for the first week then EITHER Orlando or Los Angeles for the second week.

Obviously i know what is in New York, but we are after a mixture of site seeing and Beaches from LA/Orlando!

p.s There are no kids going but i still enjoy things like disney world etc!

Any Help would be great!

  • Spent a lot of time in LA. For theme parks and the suchlike it's great. Hire a car and you have plenty of nearby (by US standards) to occupy yourself. Having said that you have the same thing in Orlando! Downtown LA is not somewhere you would bother going so if it's just for a few days at theme parks/beaches etc... then, personally, I'd opt for Florida as NY to LA is a fair old trek! If you are spending any amount of time in either venue I'd go to California.

    Orlando.........lots to do and cheaper.

Also.....flight down from NY isnt bad, Even better is the flight back to the UK.......much shorter.
  • Orlando definitely.... loads to see and do. I found LA to be a bit of a dump personally and though it has theme parks they are not as good as the ones in Florida!! The rest of California is amaaaazing though

firstly, thanks for all the advice people.

I have been told by many people that LA is amazing but also been told its nothing and boring/rough

The above is a good reply! I do think that it will be a bit "too much" going straight to LA from New York! So i think im going to go to Orlando straight after New York. Myabe spend a few days in orlando and then the rest just chill out in the sun on the beaches in St Petersburg?

    Is that a good Plan?

p.s is it Very nice in places like st petersburg? Clear blue water etc etc, also is it just beaches down there and nothing else? night life?

    Thanks in advance all

Orlando is the best, been there 2 times, last trip was in December.
    Kind Regards

  • Been to both and would pick Orlando for pretty much the same reasons as peole above. Also if you are planning to get away from Orlando itself and are looking to go to the Gulf coast try the Anna Maria Island area south of St Petes as it is less built up and the beaches are less crowded!

I've been to both and would agree that Orlando would be the better option for the many reasons that others have listed

also............. won't suffer jetlag again if you go to Orlando, and then you could leave LA for another time, taking in Vegas, San Fran etc

Orlando theme parks are far better than LA ones, even though they are supposed to be the same.

You don't say when you are going (only when the football season is over) but if you are planning July/August, either of them will be really HOT and really BUSY.

New York is a concrete jungle in the city and there is no where to escape the humidty (even Central Park is hot hot hot) and of course, you have to take into account that a lot of Americans will be on holiday from the end of May, but most from June onwards which will make Orlando busy.
