Happy New Year lula, and my heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Lula - hope he's feeling much better.

I am just trying to catch up with everyone's news between snoozes, and it's good and bad news about the top shop top - there's a khaki jacket there (not in the sale!), that I have my eye on;)

    Happy New Year Lula :)

Sorry to hear of the Man Flu. I am suffering myself in our household and using it as an excuse to return to my bed with the Ipad and browse on here :rotfl:

Good luck with your budgeting and planning. I know that tackling family meals etc can have a huge impact. There is a meal ideas website you can use that produces a shopping list as well that I had some success with in the summer. Sorry I can't recall the name of top of my flu ridden head...will have a think.....I did use it for a couple of weeks and it gave me some meals that I include regularly now. A cheap Chilli con Carne recipe and a Tarteflette - a dish with potatoes layered with ham cheese and cream.

Thanks for popping by - I hope you are feeling much better soon, in the meantime, milk it for all you can - this is what my DH is doing!

I love chilli and whenever I make it, I add various tins of different beans to bulk it out - from one tub of mince, I usually end up with 4 meals which isn't bad going. I shall be grabbing a portion from the freezer for a late dinner....

I had planned on a lovely roast beef dinner but with DH being poorly and my sister cancelling her visit because her DH is poorly, I decided to pop the beef in the freezer. They are coming on Friday instead, so we'll eat in then.

    Hello Lula,

I came onto this thread from the sneaky link on Eds - Im so glad I did its had me giggling for half an hour at the price of said handbag!

I must say - it makes me feel better about my warehouse dress purchases on Ebay! ...which havent turned up *wanders off to send rant email to ebay seller*

I think my diary is going to become (actually, I think it already is) a place to come to when you are having post purchase blues.... people seem to leave my diary feeling much better about the fact that they have only bought a coat, dress or similar rather than a ridiculously overpriced handbag. :rotfl:

A fairly lazy day before normal service starts to resume tomorrow. I took the boys to the park for an hour or so for a run around and bit of climbing etc to blow the cobwebs away.

DH seems to be showing some small signs of recover which is great.....

I might lock myself away in my office for an hour later this evening if there's nothing on TV and do some serious budgeting and "money thinking"......

Just after some feedback, but how much do you budget each month for the following:

    Food
    Fuel
    Eating Out/Takeaway
Clothes - self and family together
    Activities & Entertainment
    Treats
    Haircuts
    Dentist

Anything else that i might have missed..........?

Edit - I should add that I already have budget accounts for the following:
    Christmas - 85
    Birthdays - 45
All things car related & house insurance - 200

    Thanks, L xx

I started a reply, but tbh my outgoings are going to be so different to yours (my kids are 1X employed and 1X Uni for a start and it's soooo much more expensive having wee ones)

HDK is possibly the best person to answer this (although she does have about a million kids...I think this happened before she had a TV:D)

Not for you to actually post on your diary, but there's a link on the main forum (I think) for an SOA that will provide all the 'spends' you'll need to consider...give me a shout if you can't find it X

Thanks Natty - I started 2012 by having loads of savings accounts for the various bits and pieces, but I'd always find that something would come along that hadn't been budgeted for and then I wouldnt know which savings pot to get the money from - it ended up being a bit pointless - so then I just started transferring one amount in to a different current account to cover everything for the month. It works OK but I think we end up wasting more this way.........

I've seen a few SOA's on other diaries, so I'll go and look....

Do you save bits in to different accounts or just lump it together as a monthly "spend" allowance???
