It's been a great day....
Joined the boys for the last bit of the sledging session this morning. Walked over to the fields with my friend (who is also now my neighbour), we met the men/boys and collected my little one as he was ready to come home.
Had a lovely coffee and cooked breakfast and friends house and then came one to catch up on a bit of housework. Decided to cook a chilli for dinner in the week (also froze two additional portions/dinners).
We all headed out again this afternoon for a final sledging session and had a brilliant time, it was like being a child again, brilliant.
Came home with the little one on my shoulders and cooked a lovely dinner for all of us. Friends have just gone home, ds2 is in bed and DH and ds1 are playing Lego. I'm enjoying some feet up time and catching up on diaries.
Have a great week.... L0 -
Silly pension company didn't take the payment this month, despite me asking them to reinstate the payments (after deciding against B2L for the time being)..... so just OP the money off the mortgage instead otherwise it will get spent.0

So annoyed, Dh has just discovered that he has been getting overpaid since the beginning of Sept...... They are calculating how much he owes, but I've already worked it out and I'm not a happy bunny. No idea how they want it to be repaid - lump sum, monthly etc etc. It's totally their error btw. Grrrrrrrr!0

Saw my IFA this morning and am very happy. He confirmed that I am absolutely doing the right thing in paying my mortgage off which is always good to hear.
I wasn't sure whether I should be using some of my OP's to start funding a stocks and shares ISA but he has suggested that I stick with my MFW goal of having the mortgage paid off within 5 years and then once the house is paid for, to then start considering investing in a stocks and shares ISA and other potential investments etc.
My pensions is going to be changed around a bit and I will slightly increase the amount I'm contributing but other than that, no changes.
It's always nice to talk things through with an "expert" and hear that you are going down the right road.
He questioned me a little in regards to how likely I am to achieve being mortgage free within the time frame I have set myself, but that just makes me even more determined.
I guess the only thing that will throw a spanner in the works is if I decide to move house and potentially find my "forever" home, but for the time being I will continue OP'ing to achieve my 5 year goal.
The snow has nearly disappeared, just try icy now - but people keep telling me that there may be more on it's way tomorrow/friday....

Hi LB, that's really good news to hear. I have phoned 5 IFA in my area, and without exception not one has called me back. That's been since November and I thought it was poor.
I may have to seek advice frm our MFW friends to see is one can be recommended and so it remotely. Madness really.
You must feel gratified to hear that you are doing the right thing.

I'd looked for a local IFA, but like you had no success and to be honest I don't really like the idea of taking advice from a total stranger...... I then remembered that we had an old family friend/acquaintance who had dealt with my first mortgage many years ago - so I got in touch with him and he made the three hour journey down to see me this morning!
I could PM you his details if it was of interest......
Best, L0 -
Yes, it was gratifying, he actually looked quite impressed!0

That was a long way for him to travel so he sounds quite accountable. Let me speak to DH and get back to you.
I just took my dog for a run, rushed as I knew I had a con call, got back home, dialled in, only to realise its Wednesday not Thursday - where is my brain today!2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Lol, at least the dog walk would have been completed in record breaking time!
I've got a diverse day of con calls tomorrow - Australia at 8am and Miami sometime in the afternoon!0 -
Just read up on all of the thread (well 3/4) and just wanted to say, fantastic ops so far this year.
Well done.0
