Lol - yes I did take a look...... The mention of Visio scared me. Reminded me of a previous role I had around 5 years ago.

Ok, well in order to divert thoughts away from Visio I shall risk jinxing my purchase and spill the beans. I found a gorgeous purse that I had lusted over but not bought due to the price tag. Rrp was £280, sold out everywhere and I managed to get it for £140 plus I had a 10% discount voucher.

I'll see if I can pop a picture on if and when I get it before its whisked away and wrapped for my birthday. It's a really bright green, sounds gross but it's lovely.

Take home pay was slightly better than planned so paid for with this, thus not affecting my planned overpayments!!
  • Hi LB, I am laughing now, I taught my DD how to use project planner, to plan events for school and I use Visio to help me map things out at home too! Mad, mad, mad

Your purse sounds fab, get the picture uploaded so we can enjoy too.

    Night Tilly

Tilly, I will only go as far as using spreadsheets in the home for all of my planning etc. My friends and family take the pi** out of me as I have a spreadsheet for everything........

People can't comprehend that every time I spend money it is logged on my spreadsheet. I can't comprehend how people can manage their money without doing this......

    Enjoy the BBq'd bacon

Busy morning, managed to get some work done.... Half an hour left before I collect DS2 from nursery - he spends Monday afternoons at home with me. The joys of working for myself and from home.

So, the morning is spent working on pricing proposals and some project planning for a new (hopefully) client and the afternoon will be spent playing with cars and watching Peppa Pig. Maybe this is what is meant by diversity!

Little bit of overspend in last few days, so need to be sensible this week to get back on track with the food/fuel budget. Other than that all is looking good. Have taken the stew out of the freezer for dinner tonight and have a few bits in the fridge which can be used for a lunch.

Out of the office tomorrow for a meeting, so that will be another NSD plus I'll be claiming some mileage, although it doesn't work out so well nowadays with the ridiculous fuel prices.

The sun is shining, so at least I won't be getting too cold on my walk to nursery shortly. Shall be walking to school everyday with DS1 again this week - saves on fuel and gives me some exercise.

Can't remember if I mentioned but DS2 is out of nappies and only wears one for bed. Dry every morning so it won't be long until we can knock that on the head too. We only started a few weeks ago and he's done really well. Uses the toilet every time and has no accidents apart from if he hasn't positioned himself on the toilet correctly or if he misses the potty at nursery!

    Have a great day, L

    Rcvd my mortgage statement today.....

When we first moved in to this house we had a repayment mortgage for 30 years. Now, based upon the amended mortgage term (we reduced it to 20 years 2 years after moving in) and the OP's that we have made to date, we have 14 years (ish) remaining.

As you can see by my signature, I'm aiming to have this paid off in 5 years, so still a long way to go but all looking positive in the mean time.

Grrrrrr, my dream of mortgage free in 5 years seems a million years ago. Why does it have to be so boring to just OP all spare money after pay day each month. I love the initial button clicking in regards to making the payment and I love to see the balance go down, but then after that, well, it's just a bit boring!

I think I must be having one of this January days.......
  • Hi LB. I am sure it is January, the weather and the fact that we all get so enthused when we switch and then have to wait another month for the next fix.

Just think, if you hadn't had your LBM, then you would not have achieved what you have so far. Yep it is a few years away, but it's not 20 years, or even 10 - so close. Think back five years and consider how the time has flown :j:j. Does that help put it into perspective?

I really think we are all in the same boat and need hauling back into the boat a bit when we feel we are capsizing.

Anyway, have a good day and your food spending is looking in good shape.

    Sending a hug over :grouphug:

    Best wishes Tilly x

Thanks for dropping by Tilly and for the positive words/thoughts....
It's great to be on here with likeminded people that help keep the focus going.
You're right, the last 5 years have disappeared in no time. It's a strange situation because part of me wants to wish the time away to actually be MF and another part of me wants to make the most of each day and for the 5 years to last forever....
I just wish I wasn't such an obsessive person and that I didn't live and breath the whole money saving/mortgage free thing ever minute of every day. I think I need a hobby (one that doesn't cost much of course) to give myself some distraction!
