Living a students life

Eurgh, found out today that the aforementioned assignments are both due on the 8th - not the 1st and 16th as I thought! So, argh. Working on the shorter one so I can focus my attentions on the longer one ASAP. Not left the house today
so no spending... Tea is a prawn ready meal from M+S that was reduced to 50p and I stuck in my freezer a little while ago

Och loved reading your diary
Don't lose hope about the whoopsies and don't be too hard on yourself. Aim high but if you don't succeed and it's getting you down go back to the drawing board - hugs
I live on about £20 -30 a week for food as a singleton...there's a really good book you can download as html called how to feed your family a healthy balanced diet on very little money - the link for it is http://www.howto.co.uk/wellbeing/quick-healthy-recipes/liver/#nut-free-nut-roast - googled it and couldn't find it but know I'd posted it on here a few days ago and had the link..
Also I simply love[/u] the Australian's women weekly student cooking book (which is quite cheap on amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/1863965378/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used). This has all the cheap comfort food known to woman in it...including my favourite (almost) cookies of all time - snickerdoodles
So hope that helps with your eating. When I was depressed last year I lived off porridge and khitchari for about 2 months - again great baby comfort food (though not really for babies) and they're cheap enough....
Every blessing

I currently live off tinned spaghetti and supernoodles as my comfort food
Though I suppose they're cheap enough! Definitely going to check your links out, thank you

Eurgh, I get so mad at myself. I had an essay due in about a month ago, that I found really hard to write and in the end got so frustrated with didn't bother to finish before the deadline. Anyone familiar with the uni system knows that work that is handed in late without a valid extension gets marked as usual and then the grade capped at 40% (though we currently use letter grades, so capped at a D-). I considered this prospect and summised that the essay was so bad it wouldn't get much over a D anyway (seriously thought it wouldn't get more than an E if I'm honest!). Picked up my transcript this morning and I could've got a B. Which I really really need if I'm going to be on track for a 2:1 overall this year. Pretty much just shot myself in the foot right there.
Money wise, I bought myself a sandwich and drink at uni, dunno why but was so hungry and had a five hour stack of lectures
£3.55, ouch. Dinner tonight is a variation of 'potato pizza' from Ermes link, with chicken dippers... in my defence I have to be at gymnastics for 7 and only got home at 5! £2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -
Well this definitely needs a reboot!
My spending has been more than out of control recently
Like... I'm £50 away from getting overdraft fees out of control. I'll get some money in tomorrow as it's the start of the month but I'm damned if I'm going to spend 2013 in debt struggling with my overdraft! Especially as I graduate in June and will need to pay it off as my student account will end.
I need an action plan. And fast.
In my cupboards I have pasta bake sauce, and bolognaise sauce. I have sweet pointed peppers, mushrooms, an onion, various cheeses and some yoghurts. I need pasta and bread as I have none left... but other than that, it's going to be cold turkey.
I'm off to Asda tomorrow to do a shop - pasta, bread, some loo roll and maybe some fresh veg but nothing else. After that I will be trying to spend as little as possible!
I've got a lot of christmas presents left to buy
and I've got a few Christmas events that I need to pay for (unfortunately, I'm down for them now and can't back out! Those alone will be another £30 at least, and I can't have a nice new party outfit now either
) I need to book a train ticket to uni and back for after Christmas soon too.
Action plan -
Daily survey sites, so I can get vouchers for the christmas presents.
STOP SPENDING MONEY!
Start looking for a job in my uni town - unfortunately a hard task as it's very small and businesses prefer to hire locals rather than students due to the high town unemployment rate and the fact that they can speak Welsh.
Figure out some way in the mean time to earn some money, even a little bit, to chip away at the OD.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -
Got quite a few things to go and do this afternoon - several shops to visit and some people to ring (yay, I hate ringing people
) hopefully will keep spends under £10, if not under £5. Need to get £11 out to pay for my christmas meal next week so I think I'll get a £20 out of the cash point and just use that for all of today!
Also thinking about where to ask for a job. There's a cafe up here that's very studenty but I'm fairly certain they're the kind of place that gets asked every day for vacancies... Must check the uni job board.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -

People rung -

Grocery shopping - £8.08 with my voucher for £2.87 off
£3 of that was on ingredients for a Christmas stall I'm doing Wednesday (I shouldn't be buying them as it's not my 'part' of the stall but hey... I'm a mug and want to make the stall as good as possible) and £1.50 was on a candle
but over all good
Now got at least 10 dinners of food! Also got £10 cashback to pay for the Christmas meal I'm going to next week.
Picked up photos - they look great, they're going to be put on a different stall at the Christmas Market and hopefully they'll sell and I'll get some £££
Bit optimistic maybe but hey
Rest of shops - bit of a fail, I was nice and restrained in the first two but the third was a complete disaster
I saw some nice jeans in the sale, so picked them up, then some nice socks and next thing I know, I'm paying £18 to the lady
Sigh.
Hopefully tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday will NSDs as I don't have anything that I *need* to buy, Wednesday may be trickier as it's the Christmas market and I love having a browse! Might allow myself £5 to spend for stocking fillers for people.
Tonight I'm off to Photography Society and going to make a pasta bake, I'll have a portion tonight and a portion fresh tomorrow then freeze the rest
Shame I don't have a bigger pot, I could get 6 portions easily out of it if I did but my glass dish only holds enough for four. Tonight I also need to ribbon up 60 candy canes and do some more gift tags for our stall... and also now make fudge

Yes, very busy! But that's better because if I'm not busy, I end up sitting in my room on my laptop eating chocolate
