First time Driver Car?
Hi
I passed my test last week and I want to get a good reliable first car that is also good as a family car. For that reason it mush be 5 door.
My ideal car would be a ford focus (1.4) so you can get an idea of what I am looking for. The insurance for these would be £2.5K minimum and I just cant afford that!
I'm 28 so not a young driver and a lady driver (not that that matters any more!)
Please can you help?

all depends how much you have to spend.
for a focus-sized car you won't to much better than a kia ceed. seven year warranty so even a two or three year old one will still have a longer warranty left on it than most new cars!Come on, it's not rocket surgery is it?0 -
ive just passed my test abd dont no what car to get for my first one...0

It depends on insurance on how much I have to spend on the car! I want to pay a year insurance out right if I can! I have around £2.5K to spend in totalCrazy unorganised mum in need of help!

that discounts a ceed then!
a focus or astra would do the job have you shopped around for the insurance 2500 seems a lot for a 28 year old womanCome on, it's not rocket surgery is it?0 -
Being a typical woman I don't really know where to start or where would be best when it comes to insurance. I just used compare the market for a rough guide price so I knew what I could be looking at.Crazy unorganised mum in need of help!

The reality is that if you have just passed your test, insurance will be expensive regardless of your age. Many insurers simply don't want the business of "new" drivers.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. 1.yes search the comapre site, 2.the cheapest come up go to their website, re run your details. 3. go the the sites that dont do comparisons sites like direct line etc.
3. excess on your policy, usually you have a £150 inexperienced drivers compulsory excess, and then valuntary slide the voluntary to excess up to bring the quate down, £350+£150=£500 total excess int he event of a fault accident mind.
4.being 28 doesnt really matter your a new driver the only that goes counts in your favour is young drivers excess+inexperienced drivers excess of £250 is halved because your not a young driver and above 25.
ford focus is genrally those cars that everyone has and as a result is amongs the most common cars to be involved in an accident or stolen, same with nissan micra's astra's corsa's fiesta's saxo's 106's 206's 307's clio's megane's laguna's Punto's matiz's.
youll be suprised about how obscure a vehicle you think you could never afford insurance on could actually be cheaper than some of the above, BMW,Chrysler, volvo, audi,VW,skoda,SEAT, is just some manufacturers to look at .
comprehensive is usually cheaper than thirdparty fire and theft or just thirdparty.
job title, how many miles you do a year, vehicle security, and your area's risk code, legal cover, windscreen cover, will all impact on your quote.
named drivers try and have someone experienced on your policy it helps mum dad, broither sister aunty uncle they dont have to even drive your car to be a named driver on it.0 -
Thanks
I have been putting the excess quite hight (to make it £500 or even £650 with the new driver added)
I am not sure of the reliability of skoda/seat ext so have been looking at ford mainly
I won't be doing loads of miles as it won't be used for work just social driving around the city. I am a stay at home mum will that make a difference?
I've only been looking at fully comp quots
I'm not sure there is anyone I could name really? Do they have to live with you?Crazy unorganised mum in need of help!
