  • We are down to 7 payments left on the car......time is just flying by......I don't mean to wish the time away but I can't help it. :)

We emptied out the loft yesterday and now have got a hallway and living room full of stuff. A lot of it could be put on fleabay or in the paper. I am going to have to sort it out today as you can't move around the house where it is. Thinking carboot next weekend...maybe.

We've got a few bigs spends coming up, need £110 balance for school uniform, DS1 and DS2 need school shoes, DS2 needs school bag, need to pay for insulation on 28th Aug £190 (I think), car tax due end of month (money in car pot for that :j).

The scap man will give us £130 for OHs car :( and we will save £33 per month on insurance. Not sure how its going to work with just 1 car. :(

Right I really must get some assemblance of order is this house.xx

Wow Alice, only 7 more payments left! It has gone so fast hasnt it! I do the same with the wishing the time away, you just cant wait to get to the next payday and pay more off and restart grocery budget etc!

Are you definately getting rid of the other car? You could try it and see how you get on. Its a hard decision to make but if the repairs are more than the car is worth sometimes youve got to cut your losses havent you.
My DH has a 125 motorbike for going to work on. It costs about £30 a month in insurance and £10 max for petrol. This is cheaper than him getting on the bus as a weekly ticket round here is more than £80 a month. He was lucky to have had the PPI money to buy the thing though or else we wouldnt have been able to afford to buy it.
Perhaps you could put the £130 and then the £33 a month in a seperate pot incase you do need to buy another car. That would build up in no time at all.

Have a good day, hope ive not rambled too much :rotfl: xx

  • Hey mummy you weren't rambling at all, I appreciate your comments and thoughts.:) I know OH would love another motorbike, he sold his when DS2 came along. He can go to work on his pushbike but its the weekends I can see being a problem with running the kids around.......motorbike withsidecar are out of the question....I've suggested that. :rotfl:

We have sorted out all the loft stuff and after I realised I can't do a carboot next weekend, so we have split the stuff up into bits we can fleabay or put in the paper (which I have already put in this weeks edition :)) and I have got a pile to go to the charity shop. Will put stuff on fleabay this week.

I know some folk will say we should sell the lot ourselves as we need all the money we can get and I understand that, but I can't possible ebay everthing we have and I need it to be gone out of the way as I don't cope very well with stuff all over the place...if you get my drift. So doing my bit for charity and OH will take it tomorrow.

We ran out of bread and nearly ran out of toilet roll today so OH went to supermarket and stuck to the list but yesterday was a NSD so now on 7.xx

  • Well that's Monday out of the way :).

OH is off this week so we have enrolled DS3 into a swimming course for the week, its costs £27 but I think its worth it. After the course will sort out weekly lessons.

OH also received a letter from MBNA to say they have passed his debt to a DCA, amount outstanding is £1374. I'm sure this is the first one of our debts to be passed on. Not sure what happens now, assume we just carry on as normal.

OH is taking the kids in to 'the city' on Wednesday on the train, a day trip out to the museum (which is free entry) and free activities outside the town hall. They are going to take a picnic so just train fare to pay.

Also OH and DS2 are going to the cinema on Wednesday night (2-4-1 again). All this 'going out' is coming from the entertainment budget.

Weather has been pants today, drizzled more or less all day so no washing done.

OH has been very popular in this post. LOL. xx

    Morning Alice,

DH has put some thought into the day out hasnt he, bless him!

How old is your DS3? My DD1 has been doing the swimming lessons for 2 years so since she was 3 and tbh I wish I had waited til she was a bit older as she got off to a slow start. I think your DS is a bit older than her though so fingers crossed he picks it up and doesnt cost you too much.
She is doing so well now though, currently learning the technique of front crawl!

I used to hate all the post coming back in the day! Now we hardly get any :rotfl: xx

  • Thanks mummy, OHs on a good run at the moment. Its since his LBM....hope it lasts. :)

DS3 is 5 so I'm hoping he picks swimming up very quickly. The other 2 did start earlier I think they we're about 3 but I just never got round to sorting lessons out for DS3....naughty naughty. He loves is so far so fingers crossed.

Stuck on 7NSDs at the moment, and today won't be NSD either. :(

OH took all the stuff to the charity shop, he said they welcomed him with open arms, I feel much better now its all gone and we've done a good deed. xx

  • Wow tired tonight. :(

Spag bol (HM sauce from freezer) for tea, then cleaned up kitchen, then I ironed for an hour, DS3 bathed and in bed and have been trying for half hour to get the laptop to work!! Finally got it sorted.

OH took out £30 cash for today for carpark, train and cinema tonight. He still has cash left over so he's going to nip into town tomorrow to get tin opener and toaster. Also I think he's going to bank £100 in £2 coins into 'emergency fund/savings' account so its out of the house.

Off to empty washing machine, not sure it will be pegging out weather tomorrow tho.xx

  • Well managed to get 3 loads of washing dried today. :)

OH got the toaster using an Argos voucher I/we had forgotten about so that was good. All the other bits in town sorted too.

I've updated our spending diary tonight, things are looking tight but manageable. Cupboards are looking empty, we need milk, bread and squash for starters. Will do a list for OH to get tomorrow (and he will stick to the list!!). xx

  • Excellent that you found a voucher to use for the toaster, another few pounds saved.

Hope you have a good day.
  • Thanks pwps, I can't believe I nearly forgot about the voucher, what am I like!!

We have had a busy morning already. Went into town only paid for 30mins parking so I wouldn't have time to browse, just straight in..get stuff..and then back out again. Went to butchers got meat for next 2 weeks. Got some soda crystals, bleach and some marshmallows for toasting later.

I've cleaned the paintwork (all round the windows and the front door) out the front and washed garage door. OH has weeded path and swept the drive. OH and DS3 have gone to football now. When he comes back we're going to cut the grass back and front and doing some more work in the back garden preparing to move the shed.

Also I got a fishing rod and bits from HBs for £2.99 for my nephews Christmas present. I know what I'm getting folk I've just got to start getting it bit by bit.

We've got lots of wood to make a fire in the chimnea so after tea we'll hopefully (weather permitting) sit and chill outside for a bit.....and toast the marshmallows.

I've just updated spending diaries, OHs petrol 50/100 (OHs car has been used a lot this week whilst he's been off), my petrol 45/100. Spend on groceries so far this month(from 28 June) £302, we will only need things like bread, milk etc until the 28th so not looking to spend too much more (hopefully!).

Well I'd better get on or OH will think I've sat and done nothing whilst he was at football :D. xx
