I'm with Bailey's Babe - staycations are the new holiday.
I work for a charity so there is no pressure for holidays etc. If anyone does ask what I am going to do for my annual leave (just had last week off) I just blame the animals and say I can't leave them:rotfl:
I know I am slightly different in that I have turkeys, chickens and geese but the excuse can also work for cats and dogs. I do have 3 cats and I could not really leave them, they don't like strangers and would refuse to go to bed at night so best I stay at home :rotfl:
Glad you had a nice day out yesterday:T0 -
Thanks EE, I like it.:rotfl: I'm prepared for next years holiday.;)
Today DS3 and OH have had cabin fever. It has rained all day, quite heavily. We've played games, baked some cakes, tidied up and sorted out DS3 bedroom, watch 2 films and I have eaten just about anything I could get my hands on.....even stuff I don't really like.:o. Shame because I've been quite good just lately.
Plus point is today was NSD6.:)
OH has been ok just lately but you know I think it's because I haven't mentioned money to him at all. I've just plodded on. Now he needs 2 new tyres for his bike, he called to see how much they were on Saturday and wants to pick them up tomorrow. Not even checking if we have the money for them. I think I'm going to ask him to wait until the end of the week when I get paid.
Found some stuff to ebay today, just need to get it on. Heard lots of stories about how much expensive it is to sell stuff on there now, wonder if it will be worth it?!? Any excuse not to do it.
Also noticed on FB that lots of folk have put the heating on. Going to hold out as long as possible, 1st November??:D
Hope the weather is better tomorrow.

Was tempted to put on the heating tonight, with heavy rain and windy outside thought I was already in the middle of winter. But a arran cardy
did the trick. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice here so have a couple of loads of washing to do.
Often find my OH with his laptop and his wallet open. Couple of days later a parcel will arrive. Within a couple of weeks whatever he has bought is gathering dust in his wardrobe. Wish he would give more consideration to what he buys hate wasting money.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000 -

Xx
I am in the same boat - I have just brought 1000 litres of oil ready for winter (always cheaper in summer) and I am worrying about when the heating might go on.
I am in Suffolk and we do seem to have quite good weather, although yesterday was wet we had no wind that was promised and it was actually quite warm.
Last year I think we managed until end of October although DS really feels the cold (he is 6ft 3 and only about 9.5stone:eek:) but I usually tell him to add extra layers:D. The problem is the rest of us are not so thin and cope well!!!0 -
Last year we held off putting our heating on until November, unless the weather improves I doubt we will last for as long as that. The other day OH mentioned he was cold, he then looked down at what he was wearing, shorts and a short sleeved shirt, and said he was going to change. I think he may be realising that unless he dresses appropriately for the weather he'll get no sympathy from me and the heating will NOT be going on. We have plenty of blankets in the living room so if people are sitting around and wish to wrap up they can.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

amber, it makes it even more difficult when our OHs just don't think.:o well done for leaving the heating off.:)
EE, your DS sounds like the same build as mine, and yeah I don't feel the cold...:D. We've got gas central heating but if we had to buy oil I think I'd be even more fanatical, I'd never want to put it on.
Baileys Babe, yeah we're the same, the trouble is you'd think as it was August we still could parade round in our summer stuff, but sadly that is not the case.:rotfl:
So I think the consensus is we are going to try and leave the heating off until 1st November. think extra layers, blankets and going to bed early will be on the cards.;)
Yesterday we just pottered, went to the park and had a chilled out day. It was actually NSD7.:)
This morning I have pegged 3 loads out, will do some ironing this morning, promised to take DS3 to the park....again, good job it's free parking.;). It looks like it's going to be a lovely day and I planned cottage pie for tea, doh!

Just catching up..I think a staycation is a great idea
Have to say not sure we will last until Nov. I would love to and 2 years ago we did and our overall bill came right down..BUT we now have a lodger and I think she'd flip. Maybe I will turn off the radiators in all the bedrooms (except hers?). Every little helps? Also OH is noticing she leaves lights on so I will have to find a gentle way of reminding her to save the polar bearsMFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

I'm with you on heating off until Nov 1st! Let's see who breaks first :rotfl:
We've had a staycation for the last 7 years  i'm kind of used to it now. I would like to take the kids abroad though at some point as the two smaller ones have never been.
P.s I've had my iron for a little while now, i think the best way to make sure it lasts is to keep it in the box and never use it :rotfl: I have a knack of breaking them/dropping them on my feetand for health & safety reasons I steer clear of it now! xx
