  • Hi Mum2one,
We can't have cavity wall insulation as we live in a single brick really old house, gosh it gets cold in the winter, draughts even come up through the floor as it's on a dirt floor. It's got the original floor boards and red brick tiles in the living room but I think I'm going to have to put a wood floor with insulation over the top of them this year before the cold really sets in. I bought the house cos it was pretty, now it's a money pit, just spent loads having a new roof, then new ceilings upstairs as they were falling down, in fact when the builder touched my bedroom ceiling part of it fell down and bruised his hand, thankfully he hasn't sued me!
I can't afford to sell and get somewhere more cost effective due to debts and reduced income while I was ill, so just going to have to tighten my belt and get all the repairs done.
Speaking of belt tightening - I did go into the outlet village but didn't buy anything, did however stop at a vintage style shop and bought some xmas stocking fillers and an old style milk bottle that I can decant Mr T's value 'not really milk but white' into so I kid myself it's not value.
Got in from work and my eldest has made a lovely Sausage casserole from a google recipe using up everything in the fridge! dead proud :A

Have a good evening, I'm going to watch Sinitta cry on I'm a Celeb, you can't help but like her vulnerability x

Your DD sounds like one in a million, def agree re houses and money pits, ours needs wack of stuff doing, but unless theres a money tree or the lottery numbers.

Even with the loft insultation makes a difference. Have you got all draft excluders for the doors. x

  • I went into M&S today, my thinking was, stocking fillers for the boys and stuff to make home made crackers with, glad I went in, it's 3 for two, after sniffing all the aftershaves like it says to on the smells like board i got all 3 boys a hugo boss copy for £6.00 each but 3 for 2 so only £12.00 for three which is much less than I'd usually spend on just one bottle of xmas after shave, there was also a Marc Jacobs copy there for middle son's gf which was £12.00 and I got small chocs for under 70p each for crackers and a box of 5 maglite type torches from the garage for £5.99, so this weekend will be spent making crackers.
Sold a wedding pin at work today and have an order for another one!
Not a no spend day but feel positive, got stuff for crackers at cheaper than buying rubbish crackers which the bits of plastic just get thrown in the bin, might make mottos or may just write down funny things the kids said when they were little to put in them.
Beans on toast for tea for me, kids had left over curry and rice made into a biryani and nellydog had left over sausage caserole bits, not much there but she was in heaven!
Have a good night everyone, off to watch young apprentice x

I'm going to do a craft fayre this weekend, the first time I have done one, bit excited. Don't know if I'm underselling my stuff but the plan is to get rid of it all and put the funds towards son#3 Christmas pressie, so been busy busy busy making the things look Christmassy and making sure they'll fit in the boot.
    Happy Dec 1st everyone!!!

Well yesterday wasn't too bad money wise!:)
I just spent £1.00 on an egg and cress sandwich and £1.30 on a coffee, my first since having my tonsils out, it was heaven!
I have a load of mismatched vintage china here that I wanted to do something with for the craft fayre, was thinking of standing the cup on the saucer, in the cup having some teabags, shortbread and a small jam, then wrapping it all in cellophane with a ribbon, some pearls and an Alice in Wonderland 'eat me' label with a vintage key attached, not sure how much to charge though, the rest of the stuff I'm selling is under a £5.00 as stocking fillers but this doesn't seem enough for the cups? Any suggestions?
They do look really pretty when made up, I'll only take 5 with me though cos of space in the car, we are having our family christmas meal at the same town so will need to fit in all the kids and son#2 GF, dog and extended familys Christmas pressies, going to be a busy weekend.
Try to have a NSD today, I have enough petrol in the car and have decided not to beat myself up over the xmas pressies i am giving, I would be very happy to get them and i can't do everything, our family christmas meal costs a fortune as each member of the family gets to have it in the place they live on a rota basis, so when it's not your turn, which it isn't this year you have to pay for meals and travelodge, as i am single that means paying for 5 people as mine are all at college and skint too! Nice to catch up with all the great Aunts, uncles and Cousins though .
Enjoy your Friday, nearly the weekend
