There's loads of ballgowns on ebay, cheap too, especially if you look in the wedding section. ETA just realised its tomorrow....oops.

no good for tomorrow (today now, perhaps) but if anyone finds themselves in York, the new Scope shop has an upstairs of designer and vintage clothes - loads of evening stuff. I found a full length black velvet, with cream cowl on the back for £17 :j:j:j:j DH bought a 1920s dinner jacket for £10 :j:j:j:j His works party os James Bond, so I need to find him a bow tie and possibly one of those white scarves :)

Off to do the kitchen .............

    Morning everyone!

Huge amounts to do today so we got up late and had an enormous cooked breakfast :p.

Both boys bedrooms are now as finished as they can be till DH goes back to work (and we have money again for fripperies like lampshades and new curtains rather than essentials like plaster). This means that I can put things away properly for the first time in ages, and potentially clear some of the bulk from the family/living room :j.

Book corridoor is next, plasterboarded out on the one side and that needs to be plastered, but the wall is majorly bowed on the side for the bookcases so we are going to have fun sorting that. It is c 14 foot long, and five foot wide because of where the original several foot thick walls/chimneys are. I want a full run of floor to ceiling bookcases down the window side with a seat in front of the window, and then fabric on the ceiling - an idea I took from a house magazine years ago. Trouble is the cheapest soft wood for the bookcases would be £400, never mind the oak I want to use. Might join you on that e-bay challenge!

Going to get dressed, make up a batch of bread and then crack on.

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

  • Good morning :D

I am feeling much better this morning, but have decided to give art a miss (incase I spread any germs - some of the members are elderly/have health problems).
That means I have been able to get up in my own time, have a leisurely bath, scrub the bathroom & empty the DW.

I have an x-ray appointment at 2.50, and need to get some shopping. So the plan is.... split my time this morning between flying & studying.

Ok. Cuppa first, then off I go

    Morning All

LW agree that you need to set a date and stick to it for giving up the beer score stuff. You have mentioned it to them in the past, but they are taking complete and total advantage of you now. Why should you spend your precious time on it when muppets cant even be bothered to email you the format you want on a regular basis to make it easier for you? You have said the AGM is in January so send a note now saying as of x date I will no longer be able to do this. No explaination needed as to why not as they dont even do you the courtesy of choosing a pub thats convienient for you when you do go to the meetings if i remember correctly, one meeting you had to be lifted in your chair into the pub and there were no loo facilities for you either!

Flying got relegated yesterday again, I fell down the stairs as I had stupidly put stuff on the stairs to be taken up but DH had ignored some of it so i went head over heels and ended up brusing lots of me and possibly breaking my toes! Couldnt go to A&E last night either as DH had had a couple of drinks  so need to go at some point today as my toes are a mess. Bump on the other hand is fine, not at mark on it and its still wriggling about like mad as i landed on my backside!

On the plus side DH obviously feels guilty as is cleaning the kitchen as we speak, has wiped over the sofas in the living room and has also brought me the ironing up to put away. All without me having had to ask him!

    list

Strip bed and wash any bedding - bedding stripped, just needs ironing, will remake at weekend when ironing lady been
    Level 3
    Dust shelves
Friday - Living room, dining room
    Level 1
Toys rehomed to boxes / bedrooms - random paperwork into correct places
    Clean floors
    Level 2
    Make phone calls
Clean insides of 3 windows. - kitchen windows - no point doing living room, babys room or spare room as they are being removed in a few weeks

  • Good Morning All

I am back - feeling much better today but had a very lazy morning. DD and I need to go to other house and carry on clearing up. I am going to get her to bring as much as possible down from upstairs so I dont have to do the stairs once I have cleaned. Then when we get back I need to clear up the kitchen as she has Becca'd it. Likewise the LR in fact she has managed the whole house!! I want to bring back 2 bookcases and small chest for conservatory and I cant manage this on my own.

Right here is a little list of my own - I will have a look at the official list tomorrow after DD has gone home.

    Extra's
    T/c lease co re MOT
T/c to builder - re contact with chippy - need to restore huge dresser
T/c XH credit co as they keep pestering XFIL.
HHC in kitchen as it is minging again
Get dressed as still in PJ's... oops
    Wake sleeping beauty up
    Brunch
    go to old house
