Take the number (assuming they have put one on) and phone Northampton court to see if its genuine. If it is then come back, if its a fraud one then ignore them but complain to trading standards.
edit. How long ago did they start harassing you. This is too short a time scale for a normal one so I fully expect it to be an extension of the scam.

Have they actually sent you a copy of the court papers, or are they just threatening to in one of their letters?

So it looks as though they have sent a blank copy of a claim form, hoping to scare you into paying up. If that's true then they are being very naughty. I am sure we had a similar occurrence of this a few days ago.

  • So still ok to ignore them then? I was having a meal in KFC with my sons when" offence" occured so dont want to give money to people who should get a proper job!!

Yes, just ignore. Until you receive proper court papers that are embossed with a court stamp and has a case number, then you will be OK. What you might want to do is to report the company to Trading Standards for what appears to be deliberate deception.

This is a common tactic with a blank claim form now!! Very cheeky and I bet it works on some people.

It's nothing more then a scare tactic.

  • Igore all the way. If it did go to court, I don't know how they are going to satisfy the judge that your actions have cost them £425 when you parked your car at KFC. Thought of that one?

By the way - they don't even know who the driver was and I take it you've hitherto avoided contact. If so, best way and keep it up.
