It'd be a good idea to keep a small balance in your mortgage if plans are fluid. If you did need to raise funds, you have the option of taking a further advance on your current mortgage, rather than starting from scratch. It could work out cheaper with fees and things
As GG says, it's really only the smaller financial institutions that have any degree of personal service, these days
I spent the last 5 years of my career in a tiny bank. We didn't have a branch network, but as we only had about 60 staff in the banking division, it was possible for customers to speak to the same person on the phone, and we were all in the same locationEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Hello Tilly,
I am so pleased that you seem to be much better in yourself and looking forward to making some exciting plans. Just wanted to say well done on turning things around after some quite challenge times recently. XxPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Afternoon, well almost evening - I'm not sure where the last few days have gone.
Mr T is away and I'm off to the cinema tomorrow night with a chum.
I'm using up all the bits and bobs of food and didn't have to buy milk/cream over the weekend. It has led to a motley collection of meals but we are off on hols soon.
Thanks Squirrel, I feel much better now and have my zest for life back
I'm going to walk the hounds now - one at a time - wish me luck.

Morning, I've walked one of the hounds to the post office and sent off two parcels. The other hound is not feeling well today and he's such a lovely boy. If there's no improvement I'll take him to the vets tomorrow. As we go away shortly I want to know he's ok.
Another £15 claimed from TCB - will move to Future pot when it arrives. We won't see the architect when we are away so will book an appointment for early next year. Will give us time to save up more £
Looking forward to a planning 'mtg' tonight to organise a trip to see Gally :T. I'm off to the cinema late afternoon and having a catch up with a girlfriend.
All in all the decluttering is going well. It's a pleasure opening the wardrobe doors now.
Does something give you joy is such a useful phrase.
When I'm back from my hols I will be back at the gym. I'm sure I'll be nervous and some stuff I know I won't be able to do, but I will do as much as possible. I'm scheduling it in the calendar to ensure it becomes a habit.
Right, I need to cobble together dinner with odds and sods - serving it with griddled courgette.
I hope someone, somewhere in the UK is having some sun.

We have had the odd glimpse of sunshine. Have been strawberry picking and to the park whilst ignoring the big spots of rain. Where is the Summer?

My lovely boy is definitely out of sorts. I've got an appointment for him to see the vet tomorrow morning.
You'd better be enjoying the sun as it's just grey here

I know what you mean about it being a pleasure to open your wardrobe - now I've got all my clothes sorted and put away in a nice new wardrobe it's fantastic. Glad I decluttered so much and I've also been able to go shopping from the wardrobe too.
