Hello visitors, I feel like I should get the kettle on and share some cake around. I made a lemon drizzle the other day and it's been handy as a girlfriend popped in for a cuppa this afternoon.
I'm getting grumpy with the architect in Portugal and I am telling myself to relax - totally different mindset to Northern Europe and I know it will all come together.
I called NW bank earlier as I could see that it appeared we had gone overdrawn. I paid all our change in, then when it showed up on line, I moved it out to FD. When I moved it the payment in was visible, the next day it appeared I'd moved it before paying in the cash. No, no, no that won't do. After being put on hold for over four mins - that's a long time when you're waiting - they have removed the £6 charge which would have hit in August  I said I thought that was cheeky and that I'd use my FD account via H@SBC in future. Their excuse was I'd also paid in a cheque and the cheque had to be processed - Yes I did but as a completely separate transaction.
Right, dinner won't make itself. Peas to pick and pod then risotto to make.
In more good news - if I look out of the back windows the sun is out - best not bother with front windows - huge black clouds

Not only is your mortgage under £2000, I've noticed that it's just one calendar month to your mortgage free date!:jEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Well done Tilly :T:T and I agree with apple muncher - well done Team Tilly :T:T:T:T as you've all pulled together to make this happen. Under your leadership, the family have had discussions; made choices and acted according to the needs of the task at hand - with a view to mortgage freedom. As you've chronicled, you've still managed to achieve a rich and rewarding life, and seem to have incorporated much laughter, fun and good times
A true inspiration to any aspiring MFW
Bravo! :T

Very very well done to you all, but especially you, Tilly as you were clearly the team co ordinator. You won't get any deeds as it is all electronic at the land registry now, which is a bit disappointing. We just got a letter from the bank saying the mortgage was paid off.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -

You should get indication that the bank/lender has discharged (is that the right word?) themselves off the deeds as an 'interested party' of your property.
If you ever feel the need to 'double check' this, you can go on the Land registry website and pull up your records/deeds to show that the property is just in the name of eg You & Mr T and that there are no other interests. It did cost £3 to access your records (and you have to register), but actually, it's a good idea to have a quick check anyway.
