For some reason the idea of a light in the tumble dryer made me giggle. I stopped using ours to save on the leccy - though obviously less of a saving than it would have been had there been a light:rotfl:but sometimes the wet washing draped over the airer in front of the stove does seem never ending.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • Hi Tilly,

    Re tumble dryer.....

Have you considered just chucking a lit candle in with the drying?

    Ps JOKE!!!! please don't!

Yeay for lovely children bringing home beautiful fuschias!!:T
Morning Brizzle, I'm not sure how I'd manage without a TD when it's pouring, but I guess I could and you're right, it eats leccy

I have thought about buying Mr T ones of those leccy usage meters but decided he may get a little OCD. I had visions of him running around unplugging things :rotfl:

    Best wishes Tilly x

We have a washer/ dryer (I can't justify giving up a cupboard for a dryer) I don't use the dryer lots (but I always fluff towels) but on days like today (grey and drizzly but not really cold enough for central heating) it will get used.... We have too much washing otherwise!

We have a elec-monitor thingy from our old supplier - it's scary watching the usage shoot up when you put the kettle on:eek: - although obviously not scary enough to deter me from my 10 or so cups of tea a day!:rotfl:

I sometimes think I could manage without my TD but realistically not sure I could. That said, my DM had hers on constantly and manages perfectly well without it since it broke, needs must and all that.

  • I'm guessing using TDs is a bit of a habit. Out of the two of us Mr T is more likely to use the TD than me but equally it drives me mad to have washing, drying, ironing piles all over the place.

On a good note, all the washing is up to date, dried on the line and ironed whilst on con calls :T

Dinner was delicious and I'm embracing this SW stuff. I'd better keep embracing it, otherwise Mr T won't be embracing me :o

NSD in the bag, dogs walked and Mr T will be home shortly. Really looking forward to seeing him and he only went off this morning ;)

Mr T is paid on Monday and we will be back to OPing but via MOS. I've spoken to the bank re impact of redundancy funds sitting in MOS. I still don't know whether it will come off but fingers crossed. Bank is looking good, savings pots neat and tidy, no spending required until Friday night when I do the shopping. We have a few things on this weekend which means it will be busy and I know next week will be mad, but, it won't be long and we have another long weekend :T

I hope everyone is in good spirits, not experiencing too much rain and keeping arms short and pockets deep.

    Best wishes Tilly x

I am very strict with our TD - only really use it for linen / towels for our holiday let (guests like fluffy towels rather than crusty air dried towels!). But I agree Tilly that it is so annoying having washing everywhere around the house - with 6 of us and sometimes lodgers too, it is ridiculous. We have two washing machines and I could easily do 4 loads a day. I dry all of the washing in front of the Aga, which makes it very difficult to cook!

We have an electricity monitor too - we had one particular lodger who was hopeless at turning her lights off when she went out, and we could tell this from the monitor and go and turn them off! Now I don't like looking at it - if the dishwasher, both washing machines and the tumble drier are on it shows £1.25 per hour! Very good way to keep us disciplined.

Just catching up and loving :) the TD talk..to be fair we do have a small utiliy room at the back of the house which usually is rammed with drying washing but at least its not in the kitchen. Our banisters are usually draped with washing too or like Alice I peg out :) I have also trained my kids to do washing and I don't really do ironing ;) life's too short to stuff a mushroom and all that :)

All sounding good Mrs T. I am enjoying building up my pots of savings. Frantic week of work this week and next will be much the same... but I am promising myself that I will finally do some Ebaying this weekend to further my goals

Cupboards looking bare but as we won't starve I am ignoring them :rotfl:
