If I convince Mr T to have chickens, can we all retire to Portugal please? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'd be one very happy chicken mum. I may need lessons from MWC though :rotfl:

Maybe we should set up a MFW retirement holiday centre :)

  • Saturday dawns - I'm out first thing to meet some friends, so scribbling the shopping list for Mr T is required. We didn't get to the shops last night so he's off this morning.

This afternoon I'm going to mock up the calendar to see how to make it work and ask Mr T to find some suitable photos to go with the months - no clue how this will work as I don't have an artistic bone in my body.

Dog walking has to be on the agenda plus gardening this afternoon. I'm planting broad beans ready for late Spring :T. Parsley sauce, broad beans, potatoes and salmon is one of my favourites and a little like stuffed marrow, something I tend to cook just once or twice a year. I love these types of traditions and probably am a sentimental nutter.

Tomorrow afternoon we are trialling the sleighs :T

    Happy Saturday Tilly :hello:

Thank you so so much for the spreadsheets. Having great fun planning this morning and have rooted through the freezer and cupboards like something demented. Mr Pix raised an eyebrow a few times during the process but knows better than to comment when I'm in the MSE frame of mind lol.

I used to love growing veg. your post this morning has got me thinking. I have a few freebie veg seeds in the shed and although I have a small garden I might just start growing veg again in tubs. I used to love growing peas, beans and spuds so why not :) Ooohhh I could give up my job, get chooks and live the good life..... ok ok..reining myself in now ;)

Oh, and I'm going to start Tilly tidying too ... :D
  • Hi Pixnmix, good luck with the planning - it will save you money :)

  • Quite a bit of tidying up done in the garden and garlic planted, plus a few peas which I hope will give us some pea shoots to add to salads - they're under cloches so fingers crossed they shoot. I've never planted peas this late but a reputable site suggested it, so let's see. I have to buy broad beans - my seed box has an empty space where they should have been :(

Dogs aren't walked yet but we will be off once DD is back from work. They have been outside all afternoon with us though.

Shopping came in at £28 - which included small joint of beef, to be cooked in red wine and onions for tomorrow night.

DS is having his first go at making bread today - he normally bakes cakes and biscuits etc so this is a welcome change in direction,

No money updates, just keeping purse/wallet firmly shut. I thought we were being frugal before but just goes to show there's always room for improvement.

    Best wishes Tilly x

What sort of bread is DS going for?

Evening Mr E, he's used the GBBO cookbook, white loaf (how to make the perfect) recipe.

Water in the bottom of the oven as well - he's just taken them (made rolls with the recipe not a loaf) and they look fab.

Hope the fish are enjoying their updated surroundings :)
