    Hi Tilly

It's certainly not appalling! I, like you and I guess many on these boards, have overspent in the past but have seen the error of our ways and made amends. Some people are born financially savvy (sadly I'm not one of them), some have to learn to be that way (like me - the hard way!) but some never learn. You could have carried on obviously and paid it off in 29 years. At least you have had your LBM now and have identified a clear plan of action and are making it happen.

Don't regret the money you have spent - that's done, but be proud of what you are achieving now. The future will be sweet :)

EDIT: Obviously, I meant obliviously there - DUR! :o
  • Bless you MG, and thanks for understanding the frustration.

I don't regret our spending but I do regret not waking up sooner, if that makes sense?

As you say though, we have a plan now and are sticking to it.

Maybe not regret but I can tell you kick yourself sometimes, because I do too. I lived like Rockefeller when I didn't have the funds to do so - very much "live for today". How shortsighted. I'm in awe of all the 20 somethings on here that will be MF before 40 :T

At least we have both seen the light and are on the right road now. Have a good day :)

  • What's an interesting point is once we are MF, or rather when an acceptable mortgage debt is offset by savings, as we will be both OPing capital and building offset savings simultaneously, what will we do with the disposable income after 4/8/16.

It is a significant amount of money, which needs to be used wisely and although we want to build a house, I think serious thought needs to be put into our retirement strategy.

There's always something round the corner to think about, but time is on our side for once.

    Best wishes Tilly

I've got that one sorted, hopefully:
    1. Pay off mortgage on own btl
    2. Snowball payment onto mine & Mr GG's btl 1
    3. Snowball all those payments onto mine & Mr GG's btl 2
    4. Snowball all those payments onto mine & Mr GG's house
    5. Sell houses
    6. Naff off to Spain :rotfl:

  • Hiya GG, I wish I had your courage at the moment to go down the B2L route, but too much financial risk until mortgage reduced.

However, I will be right on your tail but whizzing to the west to Portugal - cant wait :j:j:j:j

Just off to hunt for courage - I feel a like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz:rotfl:
