  • Hi MC, I really am determined not to food shop until end January. I will need milk, fresh fruit each week but my freezer is pretty big, so I am sure we can do it. I know we will need a big shop early in February but fridges will be cleaned, freezer defrosted and ready to start again :T

I do have a SC but it's 6.5 ltrs, so I am hunting for a smaller one. I use the SC every time I batch cook and quite often on a weekend and they really are a fab piece of equipment. I struggled for a long time to learn how to use them but would never be without one now.

I feel like I should add that we really are eating well, I'm not starving everyone :rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi Tilly

Have lurked for a while so thought I should say Hi!
Love your January food challenge. We did the eat up and empty the freezers challenge before christmas, took ages to eat enough so we could defrost both. I obviously wasn't that smart though as I didn't manage to save much on the housekeeping - guess my aim for 2013 will be "try harder" :D

I also like your account tidy up payts - all those little bits do mount up don't they.

Looking forwards to picking up more useful tips and continuing to be inspired by how well you are paying off your mortgage
    cheers

I think I might need to buy a bigger house so that I can have room for one or two lodgers - I want to be able to OP lodger money every week too!

Actually, maybe a couple of lodgers would fund a house move, hmmmmmmm

  • Hi Tilly,

Wow this has turned into the exercise thread... well keep it up folks. Even if you just go for a 5 minute walk, you're doing better and being healthier than those still on the sofa!

I dont like pointing people towards other sites but I have been using an app on my phone (free app) called myfitnesspal. Its a calorie and exercise counting app and if you use it properly you'll see results.

Calorie counting is the basis for weight watchers/slimming world etc but its very simple and completely free.

If MSE and MFP joined up you'd have one super site. They are both such excellent websites

  • Hi Lula, now that would be funny - moving house to have lodgers. Seriously though, it's been a big help and we've only ever looked at our current home as an investment, as we want to move abroad once the kids have gone. I don't mean to imply that we aren't happy in our home, as we are.

I will be really sorry to see our last lodger go, but I will start advertising again in March.

    Hope your week goes well.
