I've finally regained access to my account. Great to see there's a Tilly Tidy thread. I remember the night they went viral & I had lots of MFW friends messaging me. I did it every single day from November 2011
Quick update & then I'll fathom out how MFW forum now looks - it seems different but I'm on my phone
We now live in Portugal full time. We sold our family home in Bucks, moved to Shropshire for an adventure. Great to have been MF when we made the 1st move. It may have been a hard slog but worth it.
After that we made plans to move permanently to Portugal. We bought a small end of terrace house in Shropshire once our Shropshire adventure was over. We renovated it, added value, chose to keep it & it's now been let out. Our daughter was using it as her base for 3 years but is now on her MFW journey with soon to be husband.
Hard to believe I opened my diary November 2011. Both kids were at home, we had a series of lodgers under the Rent a Room scheme to overpay the mortgage. We did multiple surveys, postal surveys, Pinecone etc etc
I still menu plan monthly. Still do larder & freezer inventories & grow most of our veg, plus a lot of our fruit, depending on season
Clearing our mortgage was the best decision ever & although the journey seems never ending, it does end. Tilly Tidies made a difference. I still do them on all our accounts. Maybe I like to see .00 at the end, who knows. Mum & Dad always said "take care of your pennies & the pounds will take care of themselves". I guess it helped

How lovely to hear from you Tilly! And so lovely to hear you're living your dream. I loved your diary (read it through at least twice) - the focus really comes through every time. We paid our mortgage off last year, although I suspect it won't be the last - I was definitely inspired by you! MFW instils such good habits - I bet the fruit and veg you can grow in Portugal is fabulous.

I've got lots of adventures to share. I hope people don't mind me using my MFW diary for this. In terms of cost containment, it will be useful2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:
