Ha ha, we can all bring some booze and party food.
Ruars will wonder what he's been missing all these months, might make him think twice about doing it again!!

  • Sorry to hijack your thread but the exact same thing has happened to my friend today. She is devastated, but I am trying to keep suggesting things to her to try.
So far - get in touch with insurance to see if policy covers them helping to find him.
    Put up posters around area.
Ask various people to look out for him (postman, milkman etc)
Go to industrial estate and leave info with businesses
Looked online at "lost dog sites"
Can't even think now of what I have told her really -its so awful. She has phoned/seen police, rspca, dog warden, vets, local dogs homes.
He is chipped, but has slipped his collar, I keep telling her that he has to be somewhere and he will come home, but she is just thinking the worst!! Sorry again to butt in, but trying to cover every angle IYKWIM.

Being chipped is a great help. Everything you have suggested is exactly what she should be doing.

From a personal viewpoint- tell her she CANNOT think the worst, or she'll be on her knees. She has to remain positive, it's the only way for her to cope.

Definitely get on doglost.co.uk with full details of where and when. Recent photos will be useful- and they will make posters for her. There's Alfies Missing Dogs, The National Missing pet register. The national Animal Warden site (the name escapes me, but that site is just for England).

She can't give up. There will be time later to collapse in a heap, when the dog has come home.
Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

If you can't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them.

I will respect your opinions, even if I don't agree with them :)
  • Thanks - there's a couple of sites there I've not looked at. I just feel so desperate for her - he is her soulmate that dog (sorry if that sounds stupid). I keep trying to give her positive scenarios of what might have happened. We live in a town so I feel sure someone will have seen him or even taken him in. I'm telling her to be patient. She's saying that if someone has him why haven't they been to vets - I'm saying that for some people that won't be the first thing they'll do.
I hope that I'll be able to post soon that he's home and that you'll be able to do that too Sazzy.
Going to go now and light a candle for him(Prince) and Ruaridh now. Like I keep telling her - keep believing!!

Hi Sazzy - just want to say my friends dog has been found!! Thank god he was hiding on a playing field in some brambles that was about 1/2 mile away!!
I'm hoping that my candle made some difference and that now the other one will work for Ruars and bring him home
I hope that you soon have the outcome that she has had. Thanks for your words of encouragement. I will keep an eye on this thread for the happy day your boy comes home xx
Another candle lit and more prayers for Ruars xx

My heart jumps each time I see a new post from sazzy, just in case there is news. Sitting with my little dog asleep on my legs and fighting back tears. Candle lit from us. In my heart I truly believe that someone has taken him in for the right reasons, not realising he is loved and desperately missed. One day, that person will see or hear of all your hard work and he will come home. With all my heart, I hope it is soon x

Just been to the candles, he's got a lot lit at the moment, 17, but they seem to be moving all over the page, not seen that happen before, how strange, perhaps its an omen. lol
