V sent me a email, seems the UK closure of third party call centres is done & imminent Vodafone UK customers will now get Three UK style customer care from the same call centres.

Hello XXXXXXXXXX

Thank you for contacting Vodafone Customer Services.
I would like to inform you that at Vodafone, we are very particular about the security of every customer’s account to ensure that account specific information is not being shared with a non-account holder. So in order to give you account related information and to access your account, we would need a verification check to be done for security purposes before providing you the information. So please get back to us with the required details.
The required details are mentioned below:
- Your full name
- First Line of Address
- Postcode
- Date of Birth
- Order reference number
I understand this may be an inconvenience to you however; we strive to protect the security of our customers.
I look forward for your response.

Kind regards,

What a laugh - so to protect your security, you deal with a third party firm that isn't Vodafone, so they can save money on customer service? Vote with your wallet! Wherever possible I ensure my details are not forwarded to any offshore call centres by selecting the supplier on that basis.

So, what do you do if the said supplier is the only one that provides the quality, data speed and depth of coverage where you need it? Do you choose a supplier with a UK-only call centre that provides ****-all coverage and poor data speeds? (Probably because they are paying more in wage bills). If I called CS every day (probably due to complaining about lack of service), then OK, but I call them 1-2 times a year and they just provided fantastic customer service when replacing my iPhone, so frankly I couldn't care less where they based, as long as they service my needs.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Indian call centres are not covered by UK data protection laws.
My advice is NEVER give out any financial information to any organisational that is not covered by UK law.

  • Blimey; then my finances wouldn't work at ALL since nearly every organisation has farmed out their customer "service" to India or the Phillipines. Stone age here I come!
