I stopped smoking on 20 June using nicorette and nicontinell, still get the occassional craving but it gets easier the longer you stay off. Lost count of the amount of unsucessful attempts I've had but this is the longest I have remained smoke free.
Still not coughed up the gunk yet but lungs definetly feel a lot clearer and breathing is much easier. Stick with it :jI'm not really a new user, just wanted a new username

Edit: and for those with disappearing 'Thanks' buttons, I've noticed my browser doing the same. What I've done a few times is a Quick Reply. Any new posts between me reading the thread and my reply getting posted are missing the magical button. A quick refresh sorts it out though.

During the quitting process people should consider the following physical symptoms of withdrawal as they were recuperating from a disease and treat them accordingly as they would any physical symptoms:
- Tingling in the hands and feet
- Sweating
- Intestinal disorders (cramps, nausea)
- Headache
- Cold symptoms as the lungs begin to clear (sore throats, coughing, and other signs of colds and respiratory problem)
The first few weeks after quitting smoking are usually the most difficult and it's safe to say that it normally takes at least 8-12 weeks before a person starts to feel comfortable with their new lifestyle change of being an ex-smoker. Withdrawal from nicotine, an addictive drug found in tobacco, is characterized by symptoms that include headache, anxiety, nausea and a craving for more tobacco. Nicotine creates a chemical dependency, so that the body develops a need for a certain level of nicotine at all times. Unless that level is maintained, the body will begin to go through withdrawal similar to alcohol addiction withdrawal. For tobacco users trying to quit, symptoms of withdrawal from nicotine are unpleasant and stressful, but only temporary. Most withdrawal symptoms peak 48 hours after you quit and are completely gone in six months.
Just been reading this about headaches and just realised that I've usually had about 8 cups of coffee by now:eek::eek::eek::eek: but I've only had 1 today because I've had no ciggies. So it's caffeine withdrawal too:(

Finally bringing myself to post after yesturdays ordeal. Partner and I got up early for a Tesco run to the 3 locals. We managed to get the common items from the first 2 tescos cereal and wipes etc.
The third Tesco after rooting around in the PJ's I managed to find some of the skull mens Pj's in Large. I was so pleased after 3 hours of searching. I was really hoping for a couple of trays, socks and pj's so i thought 1 out of 3 isnt bad.
THEN i get to the checkout and scan the first pj's " UNEXPECTED ITEM IN BAGGING AREA" rang out about 10 times. PLEASE WAIT FOR ASSISTANCE. I thought for gods sakes!! Then 1 Hog comes over and scans the machine for me and says carry on. So i do.. and then the scanner starts screaming out again. Hog number 1 then looks closer and turns to hog number 2 and whispers " they are going through at 4p"
Hog 2 tells me that I cant have the PJ's and takes them off me. I ask why??? To which she can not answer... "I DONT KNOW WHY, JUST CANT SELL THEM AT 4P, ILL GO AND ASK CLOTHING"
She then returns, confirms that they cant be sold and still states she doesnt know why this is but says its the wrong price.
I ask.. well Tesco have labeled this price up so why cant you sell them to me? To which both Hogs admit they dont know and trot off with my PJ's
So annoyed !!
Today.. we managed to bag one of the Light Stick Toys which was labelled to be 30 pounds but scanned at 60, so double the difference - This has cushioned the blow a little bit, thankyou Mr T's
Would of still of likes the PJS though!!Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher a storm, but to add colour to my sunset sky.
