Warranty ran out

  • Also with VW I'd recommend researching forums where VW have contributed toward the same repair, and to what extent (50%? 100%?) and use that information to pressure them into getting a reasonable contribution.

I've seen cases where initially they didn't want to know about faults on what should be a 'lifetime' part, and then with repeated pressure (and proof they had contributed more in similar cases) the contribution crept up eventually to 100%
  • Thanks Pedant. It's not a VW or Audi I would rather not say what make until the manufacturers make an offer, but yes i have looked on these forums and a owner with a Audi A6 which was way outside warranty (2yrs outside)was given 70% toward the repair with exactly the same problem.
The position i'm in I can't upset the Manufacturers or they will not give any goodwill, but it's dragging on in the meantime.Do i have a case against my Credit Card i paid £1000 as a deposit when i first bought the car new.

Now if you really want to get technical your speedo over records you MPH and miles by at least 3%. So that means you haven't done 60k yet.

Interesting if true, evidence to support claim?

As for the Credit Card possibilities I can't see how you would prove this to the credit card company?

We are still waiting to see if the service history is complete and fully stamped? Is it dealer or specialist? Is it genuine or non OEM parts?

...can't also see how naming the manufacturer will change your chances -its hard for us to state your chances based on history unless we have the full facts...

Have a look at this, I know it's Wikipedia but I think it's accurate.

    Uh-oh!

I suspect that had the last stamp been a genuine VAG one then the goodwill approval would have been near instant.
    The man without a signature.
  • The Car is a Chrysler the 4th stamp was by a local vat registered garage using Chrysler parts(which covers warranty rules). At that time the local Chrysler Dealer had shut down. The nearest dealer from that was 20mls away.

A speedo can and probably will over read but there is no guarantee to say that it definately will.
