Warranty ran out

The car warranty has run out by 300mls or 1 month and the engine has big problems. I have asked the Manufacturers for good will but as yet no answer has come back. It is now 3 weeks since the car brokedown how long would you expect me to wait for a answer?
The car had Full service history. I expect the total repair to be £4k to £5K.
Cheers

It's impossible to say, phone them and ask for an update. The problem is you can't put a time limit on goodwill, you will need to do the chasing if time is now important to you.0

I have been in contact with customer services who are very helpful. The dealer is in contact with Goodwill dept but they seem to be draging there heels over the answer! I would prefer not to name the Manufacturers at the moment.0

What is the problem - a proven manufacturing fault, damage of some kind or merely fair wear & tear?0

Hi
My car has a VW/Audi 140bhp diesel. its a know fact with VW/Audi forum sites that there is a problem with the oil pump. But the engine builders will not admit to this. You expect a car to last longer that 2yrs 1mth with 60300mls from new!0 -
60k miles in 2 years is not exactly average mileage. (Or is the 60k miles total but the car is older than 2 years?)
What sort of warranty was it? Manufacturer's? Dealer's? Warranty Direct or similar?0 -
The warranty from manufacturers is 2yrs unlimited or 3yrs/60k which ever the first.the car is 2yrs and 1month old with 60300mls. i have owner the car from new and have full service history! NO THAT'S NOT AVERAGE MILEAGE, But you expect a engine to last longer that 2yr.:mad:0

60k miles may mean the engine is effectively 6yr old (I think most companies base their figures on around 10k miles/yr) - but I do agree that it's rotten that it has croaked *just* outside the warranty period.0

It seems to me that as you have only just exceeded the warranty conditions that some sort of goodwill gesture would be likely. Different brands selling models with that engine have very different reputations for customer service though, not necessarily in line with how 'premium' they are perceived to be.
Was the car on a long life servicing plan with extended intervals?
Your dealer should be playing a big part in pushing this for you, are they? If not, I would try hard to get them working for you if I was you. If they are part of a large dealer group they may have be able to exert significant pressure on the manufacturer/distributor. [edited to add - i know you mentioned the dealer was involved, just not sure how much you feel they are really on your side]
Last point on the dealer, if you bought the car retail from them, and/or have had it serviced there, then a goodwill gesture from them would be in order should the manufacturer fail to come through.
Good luck.0 -
Have you had all the relevant work done to the car? (things which need to be done at a certain mileage). If so, where did you have these done? If it was with the dealer, you'd have more bargaining power there.
If they haven't been done, or if it was elsewhere, it might be different...60k in two years makes the engine equivelant to a 5 or 6 year old engine. Does this part usually fail or need replacing around this time?
If you can find proof its likely to be a common fault it might help!0
